Great First Hostel Experience Here
Enjoyed my stay here. It was my first hostel experience and my most pleasant. I have heard some horror stories about other hostels, so I lucked out being recommended with this one. The staff does a great job with keeping the property clean and in great condition. I love that there are house rules at this hostel as well to keep everyone the way it is. Bathrooms and kitchen areas are very spacious and I love that there is a changing area that is separate but included with the showers. Would definitely recommend for someone who is solo travelling for the first time or just having their first hostel experience.

The backpackers is in a pretty hidden place and is kinda awkward to find. They do give detailed directions and there are signs to help show you the way. I felt a little be confused and kinda uncomfortable when the signs led me to an elevator at the back of the building and I had to ask someone nearby what floor number the backpackers was. The way the property is laid out can be confusing at first but the staff are very helpful and you will eventually become accustomed to it. The rooms are very nice and cozy and offer heaters to keep warm, and there's even pictures on the wall and a coat wrack. And the kitchen / Dining room area is a pretty nice, big, tidy and sociable space where you can cook your own meals and choose to sit outside or inside. The whole building had pictures, posters and great information for the tourists and had an overall colourful and fun atmosphere to it.

Hostels should provide 3 things : a bed, a bathroom, luggage storage. This hostel rents towels and simply doesn't provide any soap. I get they want to keep prices low but it isn't low if you have to purchase/rent every basic amenities. Not asking for toothbrushes or combs, just bodywash in the showers. You can buy a towel at the warehouse downstairs for a cheaper price they rent it. As for the bedroom, no ventilation whatsoever, it was more than 30° at night and they only provide a tiny fan for 10 beds. Not to mention no personal light nor power outlet next to each bed. Between the heat and the 2 guests making in their bunkbed, it wasn't possible to sleep. Only good thing about this place is the location

Great For Backpackers
While the street outside the Attic is under construction, the Attic is secure for its guests. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful in providing directions to local attractions. The facilities are clean and looked after. I would definately stay at the Attic when returning to Auckland.

Awesome experience in the heart of auckland.
I loved it. The hostel has everything I look for in a place. Great location. Great kitchen. Lovely people. Everything you expect in a kitchen including group spices, free food dry and refrigerated. Clean.
You should always expect to bring a hair dryer, towel, and shampoo/soap for the shower. There was a box for free bathroom stuff and a hairdryer. You had to rent a towel if you wanted one. Two out of three seems great to me.
