Perfect spot for our family reunion

We booked the Northstar for our family reunion over Easter weekend. We booked all the rooms, and used the restaurant and lounge space for our celebration dinner and morning-after brunch the next day. (A mixed generation group of 73 of us, ranging in age from 6 weeks to 89 years!)
We were very impressed by the facilities - the rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. And the restaurant and lounge space were perfect for our needs. The kids room was a brilliant bonus too!
We arranged a buffet dinner and the food was great - delicious, plenty of it and all dietaries thoughtfully considered. The cooked breakfast was also brilliant - lots of variety and
The team at the Northstar were super helpful with the planning - flexible and totally accommodating for everything we wanted to have at the reunion and needed help with - providing us a microphone for speeches, IT set up for slideshows and music, and letting us decorate the tables and the restaurant space to suit. We even had 17 kids tearing around for a Sunday morning Easter-egg hunt!
Really appreciated the excellent service from all of the motel staff - the Northstar worked really well for what we needed from the reunion weekend. Thank you!

Reasonably Priced Spacious Room

A fantastic room. Very spacious, clean and comfortable. A good kitchen, lounge area, dining area, separate shower and toilet, comfortable bed. Reasonably quiet at night considering it is near a main road and is part of pub/restaurant (although free standing). A good price for the room and we would stay here again.

Absolutely disgusting meal

Worst dinner we have ever eaten.
Steak under cooked, French fries under cooked, salad was just a bowl of lettuce with watery dressing, mushroom sauce for steak was mushrooms in water.
Been eating here for yrs,
Not been here in 2 yrs,
Must be a new cook, definenly not a chef..
Never again..
Don't eat here....
Waste of money..
Go into town,
Better quality..

A pleasant step

Comfortable Motel, probably quite new, and well equipped. We only stayed there one night, on the road from Dunedin to Christchurch, the opportunity to discover the small center of Oamaru, its Steampunk and its penguin colony... A pleasant evening...

Good motel in Oamaru

Good motel with clean and large rooms, with a spacious bathroom. Our unit was at ground floor with no view at all except the carpark.
The motel has a restaurant where we had lunch and this is convenient.
There was some noise from a close park of trucks, but not during the night.
