Friendly clean with river walk from site to shop

Lovely clean tidy well kept campervan site with river walk to four square. Took a wine tour from here and had a great couple nights stay.
Bring sausages to feed Eddie ell.

Shabby Holiday Parks, Blenheim NZ

It’s surprising that a popular destination like Blenheim NZ being in the heart of New Zealand’s premium wine growing region doesn’t have a decent motor camp ( caravan park) to speak of. We looked at one closer to town, (Bridges) but that was nestled between railroad tracks & under a highway overpass which would make it extremely noise at all hours. We stayed 2 nights at the Spring Creek holiday park about 10 mins out of Blenheim as our only other option. It was old and needed a major revamp but the ancient facilities were adequate & clean. It was part of the Top 10 group at one stage but that certification was withdrawn ( and I can see why having stayed at other Top 10 holiday parks around NZ). We had never been to the area before and we are not into wine so there really isn’t much to do there. One saving grace was that we had dinner at Arbour, NZ’s top restaurant & that was divine. All in all, nice for a visit, but we won’t be back.

I would definitely not stay here again. We’ve been travelling for three weeks, and this has been our worst experience. We specifically needed a place with laundry facilities—yes, they have them, but we arrived just before 6 p.m. only to find that the laundry room closes at 6.
I went to the office to ask about it. On top of that, you’re only given 250 MB of Wi‑Fi before you have to pay, which was never mentioned on their website—annoying, but fine. When I asked the woman at the desk if the laundry could be kept open a little later, she referred me to “the man.”
When I asked him if he could leave it open since that’s the whole reason we booked this place—and since the early closing time isn’t listed on their website—his response was, “Did you book the campsite?” I said yes, and he replied that the information would have been in the confirmation email. I explained that by the time I received that email, the booking was already made, so it really should be on the website. He just shrugged.
Every time I tried to politely explain that it should be on their website so people know BEFORE they book, he cut me off with a dismissive “ok.” I have never encountered such rudeness from someone trying to run a business .
Oh, and the pool. Check the picture. No water!

Good stop for catching a morning Cook Strait ferry.

Comfortable and basic backpacker accommodation, with fairly priced rooms and dorms. Late arrivals possible with booking. Helpful owners/managers.
Pleasant but slightly crowded surroundings. Best to park van or get accommodation away from the road because of night-time heavy trucks.

Convenient site near Blenheim.

Friendly welcome and tidy site. Nice pitch for motor home near river. Great location if you want to take advantage of local pickup and drop off for cycling wine tasting. Apparently there are friendly eels in the river who pop up to say hello if you stamp on the bank but we did not succeed.
