5 Stars! Delighted to Find This Gem in Asuncion!
Our first trip to Paraguay landed us at the boutique hotel, Arthaus. Our hostess and host were polite, professional, and welcoming. They helped make our first trip to Paraguay quite memorable!
All of the staff was quiet, respectful, and helpful with the language. Also, the hotel is convenient to the city center or shopping, and we both walked and took a taxi and arrived within minutes to both destinations.
Our room was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated, with bright colors and comfortable beds. (we stayed a week) We were quite comfortable in our room. The wardrobe held all of our clothes and the in-room refrigerator kept our drinks cold and the television offered both English and Spanish channels. The continental breakfast each morning was delicious and satisfying and each of our days began with fresh orange juice, sliced watermelon, fresh eggs and hot coffee! If you ask nicely, the hostess might make you a cup of the local tea, mate.
We encourage you to spend a relaxing afternoon in a hammock, poolside, and be sure to eat at the Mexican restaurant adjacent to the hotel.
We look forward to revisiting this wonderful gem of a hotel in the heart of Asuncion and we give the Arthaus boutique hotel five stars!

Great stay
We stayed with my family here for a few days. We were traveling for a wedding and we thought the location of the hotel was great. They were always available, and helped us with anything we needed. We also all got picked up from the airport. They were very accommodating to our needs and the breakfast was very complete and delicious. The pool area is also lovely and feels very homey. I really enjoyed my stay here.

A VERY GOOD TIME
The hotel is near 2 shoppings and good places to find food
and entertainment.
The service team is very attentive and offered airport transfer..
The price is good and they offer bed and a good breakfast.

Poor, unsafe accommodation, but in an ideal location
We arrived late in the evening and were welcomed by a nice Spanish speaking Gentleman who helped us with our luggage and guided us to our room. Prior to this the guy asked if I was 'Mr W' to which I agreed. No documents were checked to confirm our identity.
The room; We booked through hotels.com, opting for a double room over an economy double. We were pretty disappointed to be put in a room that had almost zero natural light, two extra single beds jammed in, with shoddy and unsafe electrical fittings throughout. Rather than experiencing the eclectic decor described by some previous guests, we found the decor to be tasteless, containing a variety of rubbish I'd expect to find at my local tip.
Though disappointed we'd been misled by previous 'genuine' reviews, we looked at the positives; namely the fact we were only there for two days.
The Pool; Horrendous. The pool and pool area were dirty and unkept. The owner claimed to my partner that it was cleaned twice a day, however, photos taken 20 hours previously highlight the fact that the place is just a dump that had not been cleaned or tidied. It is no exaggeration for me to state that no human with any degree of sanitation or standards would enter this pool! The owner blamed building work next door, but as my photos show, the litter and other rubbish lying around can only be the result of poor management. To reiterate, NO effort was made to clean the pool.
A 3 hour power outage was experienced, though this also affected the wider network and was not central to this hotel. As irritating as this was, there is nobody to blame (other than the inadequate electrical distribution infrastructure in Asuncion).
My partner was desperate for an hour of swimming, so we packed up and left for the Sheraton.
In all, we stayed 1 night, leaving before completing our stay. We book around 30-40 days of hotel stays per year through hotels.com, so a quick phone call ensured a full refund was to be issued to my gold account. Proof of this can be provided if the authenticity of my review is questioned.
The owner claimed to my partner that we can expect a 3 star pool experience at the Sheraton. If the rooftop pool at the Sheraton is worthy of 3 stars, your hotel is not worthy of any grade, and should be bulldozed to the ground. And you sir, are a clown.
Your accommodation is poor, so rather than advertising it as something it quite clearly is not, aim for a more realistic target market: Budget travellers incapable of paying for anything better.
If your budget allows it, head for the hills before spending your hard earned cash on this place.

The best way I can think of responding is to say is that of the other 79 people who have left reviews here, plus the over 200 who've done so on other sites, not a single one will agree with this person. Furthermore, Hotels.com, Booking.com and TripAdvisor have each made us recipients of their excellence awards...
I was later contacted by the site where this person made the reservation and they told me that he was attempting not to pay his bill... What a shame.

Boutique Hotel indeed
Normally we stay with friends in Asuncion, but -due to a serious wedding party- we opted for Arthaus...and felt home immediately. It has an intimate, personal, feel and should never have more than a room or twenty or so. The owner Javier is a gregarious 'positivo', who acts like a personal friend and host, and runs a family-like boutique hotel complete with quincho and pool of the original house. Rooms are ample and clean, and his staff is very friendly and helpful in many languages (Wagner c.s.). Airport shuttle big plus, location perfect, construction -too close- next door big threat.
