Don’t bother… seriously!
Let’s start with the cat that defecates in pot plants, jumps on breakfast tables to eat left over cheese and meat. Staff member Kelly (Margarita) never supervised it and left the guests to constantly tell Toto (?) the cat to get off the tables.
We booked 2 nights on two separate apps each. Unbeknown to us, this hotel is located above a night club and a bar: the first night at the hotel had thumping music underneath us to 4:30am. The next night went to about 11:45pm, the next night the power went out on the whole street and we finally got some sleep until people started banging on doors at 2:45am and 4:15am, and the final night the music thumped to about 1am. There is rancid oil frying in the club below the bedroom for about 5hrs a night and the stench comes up through the floorboards, filling the bedroom with a vile smell.
The staff seemed to be lovely initially, and allowed me to do my laundry because I have allergies and can’t use the commercial service. Then it changed. I had Valentino supervising me the whole way, who claimed our washing, that has been weighed at 2.5kg in every other location, was now 7kg. They didn’t have a weight and finally turned up with one a day later to weigh the laundry, and charged us for 5kg, without showing us the weight.
There was no-one on reception at 1pm the last day and we couldn’t get into the building for more than 3 hours.
Then, on checkout the next morning, there was no one at reception again, so we just left the key. Even though the apps said we were paid, Valentino chased us down the street to tell us we hadn’t paid for all 4 nights and Kelly insisted the same when we came back. There was no apology when we found the receipts for the two night booking on one app. In fact they became more aggressive.
It seems the first two nights had not gone through the other app and I asked why they weren’t charged when we arrived. I got a torrent of Spanish I didn’t understand and kept asking Kelly to use her translator, which she refused. Instead, she said she was calling the police and refused to speak with me when I told her I didn’t understand most of what she was saying.
It was an extremely unpleasant exchange and I would NEVER recommend this hotel with under experienced, rude staff and rooms that stank and were super loud. Thumbs up to staff member Christian, but definitely do not stay here would be my recommendation.
These people shouldn’t be in hospitality!
