It should be called "the dungeon Cusco"
Beware of the rooms in this hotel. The "inka wall" rooms, are on the -2 level. The hotel staff will try to convince you that it is because of the incline of the street, but make no mistake, you wil be sleeping in a dungeon. All the rooms (even the "luxury one" we were upgraded to) are tiny and dark. While the common areas of the hotel are nice, I would not stay here again. Also when trying to call to get room service or needing something from the front desk nobody answers the phone. We had to go down twice, and when we said "we had to go down because nobody answers" everyone looks at you completely clueless. The steak we ordered was overcooked and the dessert was meh. They do have a good breakfast.

A Beautiful Historic Hotel That Helped Us Through the Altitude
JW Marriott El Convento Cusco was one of the most memorable hotels of our Peru trip.
The hotel itself is absolutely stunning. Built within a beautifully restored historic convent, the property is rich in history and character. We especially loved that the hotel offers complimentary tours of the grounds, allowing guests to learn about the fascinating history and significance of the building. It made our stay even more meaningful.
The staff were exceptional throughout our visit. Every member of the team was warm, welcoming, and genuinely eager to help.
One of the reasons we chose this hotel was because of the thoughtful amenities provided to help guests acclimatise to Cusco’s high altitude. The oxygen enriched guest rooms genuinely helped us adjust more comfortably, and the hotel also offers complimentary coca tea, muña tea, and other thoughtful touches to support acclimatisation.
During our stay, my husband became quite unwell from the altitude. When we contacted reception, the team immediately brought an oxygen tank to our room. Their prompt response, kindness, and genuine care meant so much to us during what was quite a stressful moment.
We are incredibly grateful to the team for looking after us so well. The combination of beautiful accommodation, fascinating history, outstanding hospitality, and excellent altitude support makes this an outstanding choice for anyone visiting Cusco, particularly if you are concerned about adjusting to the elevation.
Thank you again for such a wonderful stay. We will happily recommend JW Marriott Cusco to our friends and family, especially because the oxygen enriched rooms and thoughtful altitude support made such a positive difference to our experience.

The only situation was that the shower was very difficult to regulate the temperature, going from super hot to cold. We complained about it, a staff went to fix it, but it continued with problems

Top stay!!
Great nice hotel in an old monastery. As Platinum Marriott Bonvoy well received. Nice extra activities at the hotel such as a tour of Jesus. It's all very nice. The breakfast is absolutely top!! In addition, a great friendly and helpful team that made our stay super.
