Amazing Time
Just returned from a visit to Peru including time at Irapay Amazon Lodge. My wife and I traveled with one other couple. We enjoyed our time at IRApay immensely. We found the facilities to be clean, food excellent and staff friendly and courteous.
The resort is on the banks of the Momon River and it was enjoyable to watch the river traffic go by. Our individual cottage was clean and comfortable. The food quality and variety was beyond expectation and we found that even when we told the staff to reduce our portions to half-size, they were oftentimes still too generous. Prices were reasonable.
We were given exceptional service by our guide Alberto, who spoke excellent English (the only English speaking staff person) and was extremely attentive to our needs. We also were assisted by Charles who, with Alberto, took us on an evening river tour in search of wildlife and a walking tour of the jungle. Charles was extremely knowledgeable about the plants and, with Alberto as his interpreter, gave us explanations of what they were and what they were used for.
Our trip into the Amazon was a once in a lifetime experience for us and it was fantastic. As much as we enjoyed the food and amenities of IRApay, we feel that it was Alberto and Charles that made the experience as enjoyable and memorable as it was. I understand that Alberto recently left IRApay and, in my opinion, that is a major loss for IRApay and future customers.

A hidden surprise in the Amazon
When you visit the Amazon you must remember you are in the Amazon, not in a luxury resort in Mexico or the States. The resort was beautiful, on the banks of the Momom river. My husband and I were with 2 other couples we each had our own "cottage" it had a comfortable Queen size bed and a private bath. We only had electric for three hours in the morning and three in the evening. There was no hot water for showers. Remember you are in the middle of the Amazon. The food was really delicious, and the portions huge, we had to tell our guide to have the chef cut our portions in half.
The true gem of our stay was our guide Alberto, he took very good care of us and spoke very good English, I can't say enough good things about him. He was wonderful. He and Charlie took us on a walk though the jungle which was great. Charlie knew all of the plants and showed us what they were, he even dug up some roots that the chef cooked for our lunch.
The pools were beautiful, complete with a swim up bar. Although Alberto was the only one at the resort who spoke English the entire staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

The workaround....
I was planned to visit the property in December but given visa issues had the cancel last minute. Not their fault, mine. But the lodge had a cancellation policy that should have awarded me back $1000. I've been chasing them for 2 months....first, the accounting person is on vacation (I waited), later they only do returns through Paypal (I opened an account), lastly, they stopped ansering... bottom line - they stole $1000 from me and I can't seem to be able to get them to pay it back.

Amazing
The property is amazing and we had a wonderful experience. The most memorable part of our trip and what I would recommend for everyone, do at least one tour every day, and I recommend doing two (morning and afternoon). Definitely do the hike if you enjoy the outdoors. Our tour guides, Flavio and Julio, truly made our trip the perfect experience that it was. Flavio’s English is outstanding and both of their personalities and knowledge created many memories. The food is also outstanding. The quality and presentation are definitely on par with luxury experience. I would highly recommend staying here if you have the opportunity.

Amazon stay
The hotel was okay but we were very disappointed. It is advertised as a “luxury” “all inclusive” hotel but this was not the case. The website advertised multilingual tours but there was only one guide at the resort that spoke English. When we arrived there the man working at the front desk began speaking to us in Spanish, which we could piece together, but when we asked him if he spoke English he said yes but that he didn’t like to. Which is kind of ridiculous. This hotel was not “luxury” in the slightest
