We found La Fauna by complete accident, and am so pleased that we did! Not only is it beautiful but its super clean. The owner speaks a little english but tried very hard to communicate with my little spanish. Breakfast was included in the price and was delicious including fruit salad, smoothies, bread and eggs. The location is perfect, super close to the Plaza Mayor, eateries and shops.
As the name suggests there is many types of fauna, a very clean pool and shower facilities aswell as some friendly locals (tortoise, cats and dogs)

La Fauna - calm and creativity in the center of Puerto Maldonado

I came to have some food and relax in the patio at La Fauna. I have not stayed overnight here, but love the atmosphere and the sensation of being in a quiet refuge even so close to the Plaza de Armas.
So much artistic creativity! And soft jazz, and good conversation. Can't ask for more.

friendly and helpful

Wonderful experience. Pet friendly, clean, beautiful place. In Peru was very difficult to find pet friendly hotels. After driving around we were lucky to find El Fauno Hostel, they were very helpful and nice, considering that we did not even had a reservation with them. The swimming pool was perfect to relax.

Great value for price

After all the hostels in cusco and other places in peru, this one had the best price for value. For 8 dollars a night it has a pool, a bar, very comfy and clean beds with multiple plugs per bed, good working and clean bathroom (mine without hot water, but i dont really needed that in this climate) and a very helpful and relaxed owner, plus bicycle rent. And not unimportant: the wifi is really fast.
Best facilities for this price in Peru so far.

Superschönes Hostel im Zentrum von Puerto Maldonado. Sauber und freundlich, tolles Frühstück mit frischem Saft. Überall schöne Sitzecken zum Entspannen. Kleiner Pool. Personal sehr freundlich! Mosquitonetze.
