An Exceptional Stay in the Selva Central

I stayed at Casablanca for several weeks during the beginning of a several month stay in San Martin de Pangoa. It offered much more than I anticipated and I would definitely stay again. Ana, her daughter, and her mother, whom all work at the hotel (as well as the lovely ladies who clean and cook there), were such a pleasure to be around. They were so patient with my Spanish, and treated me like family. They really aided in my accommodation to the region.
The rooms are large and very clean. The bathroom, bedding, and towels are cleaned daily. There is a beautiful courtyard which houses all of Ana's mother's plants. The hotel is well decorated, and even offers cable television. They serve breakfast and lunch daily and the breakfast is delicious. They normally serve fresh bread baked that morning, with butter, fruit, a small omelette, fresh juice and coffee from the region.
While the hotel is not an exotic get away tucked into the forest, it is a really nice place to stay in San Martin de Pangoa -- and it the only accommodation of its kind in the region. One previous reviewer had several negative things to say about their stay -- including the noise of cars and roosters, the heat, and the mosquitos; a traveler must understand however, that all of these complaints are only valid complaints about the region, not of the hotel itself.

Not happy

Stayed for one night and woke up to take a shower. Water was cold. Complained at breakfast. Staff indicated guests need to request hot water be turned on. Then had to pay extra for marmalade, butter and milk for my coffee not included in my free breakfast. Little things like this make a big difference. Won't go back.

Nice oasis on the road

We were in San Ramon on business, and were impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of Hotel Casablanca. The pool and garden area were lovely, but unfortunately, we did not have time to use the pool. For central Peru, where few monied foreign tourists travel, this is a very nice hotel. Good queen-size beds, screens on the windows so we could open our windows and enjoy the birds singing without getting bitten by mosquitoes, and an adequate, if not particularly lavish breakfast. We will return to this hotel in the future without hesitation.
