Pretty renovated castle

A lot of effort and cash was pumped into renovating this castle, and it shows. The main castle looks like a million bucks, in spring and summer it must be a really lush place. A lot of thought went into details. Enjoyed a relaxing full body massage, had good breakfast and dinner, had a pleasant walk around the grounds and town. The underground corridors connect the castle and out buildings and spa, huge complex. Recommended.

Surprising good and bad

I drove tens of miles off my itinerary to have a nice meal at this hotel, and to have a quiet spot with good internet to make a work video call.
There was a large group in for a conference, staff were busy preparing for them. I was shunted to a restaurant area but some staff kept working and sweeping the floor noisily as if I were not there. I ordered duck but 10 minutes later they said they don’t have it, so I had a burger which was ok, nothing fancy.
There was no internet on the restaurant, and the lounge area Y the entrance was very very noisy…
Bad experience overall, but the place looks nice.

Perfect renovation

Very comfortable stay. We had a studio in one of the four buildings in the castle boroughs (so not the main castle building). Studio was similiar to a stable box, which looked very unique and interesting. There were three rooms per studio (each with a bathroom) and a small kitchen/sitting room. The rooms were comfy and not that small. Everything was really well taken care of. The surrounding were also very nice, with a lake, outdoor/indoor pool and nice path for strolling. The food was good. Generally recommended

Very Industrial feel

Apartment was basic and dark. Not a very pretty place, we left after one night. Felt like an underground prison. On the plus side breakfast was very good with lots of choice and breakfast staff were attentive. The bar service was atrocious. We were arranging our wedding nearby and had arranged some meetings with our providers. We wanted a nice venue to hold our meetings but it took 45 minutes to get served our refreshments. Was consistently trying to order but ignored as the one bar staff was making mocktails for children who were lined up in droves. Inexperienced staff.

Being a Bishops' Guest

This ancient place, belonged once to local Bishops. Fully modernised and reconstructed, is now a large Hotel and Conference Center. Modern rooms, comfortable and large, lot of meeting rooms, bars and even a Theatre for about 60 guests. Very fine area of interest surrounds the Castle. Lot of parking places.
