A real gem of a find! Safe, great location and so clean!

Other location of the hostel is within 50m of a tram line but just far enough away that you don't hear it.
Don't listen to poor reviews, this place was a fantastic find and I'd recommend anyone to stay there!
Free towels, free tea and coffee (both nice touches that I haven't seen in other hostels).
There is no cleaning service but it's a hostel not a hotel!! You don't need it anyway as it's so clean when you arrive.
The bonus for me was that the shared bathroom was a real bathroom... Toilet and shower and lockable door, not an open block of showers. I felt like I had my own bathroom at home. Fab.
I'd recommend this place to anyone and the staff were so helpful.
Oh and the WiFi was great!!!!

Hotel Policies
1. A Curfew is in place from 10pm- 7 am unable to go out!
The room
Cleanliness
- Sheets Discussing slept on top of them using my jumper as a blanket
- Dirty room all aspects are filthy; carafe was found with a dead fly in it and also lots of dirt build up
- Fridge full no where to store food; food left on sides
Furniture
1. Bed was broken; 4 supports were broken see photos below
2. Mattress extremely thin and lumpy very bad
3. Pillow foul smell was unbareable; hotel wanted Zloty to change it( used my backpack instead)
4. 2 hangers given for 3 night stay
Communal zones
- WIFI is rubbish 0% connection
- Common room smelt really abhorrent
- Bathroom Tiling falling off
- Shower full of mould (foul)
- Lack of toilet paper always when when I informed them
Put it this way this “hostel” is more of a prison than anything else! Left after 2 days couldn’t stand being locked in at 10pm and the terrible conditions!
The room had paper thin walls so could here every single thing!

Cheap solution

A good solution in order to stay near old town and near Glowny train station. No cleaning service, no towels in the room and a bit noisy. The staff was very friendly. They helped us to organise our tours.

Nice hotel in a fascinating city

Spent 3 nights at Hotel Amber while visiting Krakow. Hotel is in a convenient location within easy walking distance to many attractions and near tram stops. Hotel does not look like much from the street but inside is very nice; quaint with modern amenities. Room rate includes a nice breakfast an free in room wifi. Staff are fluent in English and very friendly and helpful. Parking is available at a reasonable rate around the corner next to a church. Attendant on duty and vehicle under watchful eye of several religious statues. Krakow is a very pleasant city in which to walk around. There are many outdoor cafes and people milling around. It feels very safe, no panhandlers. Be sure to visit Aushwitz/Birkenau (very sobering) and the salt mine. The latter is unlike anything we have seen before. Wawel Castle also very interesting. For dinner try the Cage Szara on the main square. Save room for the chocolate mousse.

Cheap and dirty

We stayed here for 2 nights, we were given a room upstairs, the stairs were a death trap, none of the steps were even and was a tiny spiral so it was very difficult to get suitcases up and down. The room was decent sized but the beds were horrendous. The mattresses lumpy and pillows lumpy. The bedding had stains and holes all over it. The pillows were like pancakes and everything seemed very old, worn and unwashed. The room itself was so dirty, there was a layer of dust on the chairs and in the bathroom. The walls are paper thin and we had neighbours who constantly put the communal kettle on outside at 5am every morning. The only plus side was the staff were very friendly. If you want cheap this is your place.
