Great location but take ear plugs to sleep (and you'll honestly be ok)
Recently stayed for 3 nights in a double room with street view.
The room was big enough and clean on arrival (no housekeeping during tge stay but it does state this on booking.com)
Check in and out was easy. We gave card details on booking.com but we were asked to pay in person on arrival. Plus there was an extra charge for check in as it was 7pm.
Easy to locate and very central.
Downside...tram noise. I knew about the trams prior and can usually sleep through anything. However the trams were loud and the room vibrated when they went past every few minutes at night. My partner received a message saying please be kind in the review as trams were out of their control (agreed) and they do provide earplugs to overcome this issue. However nobody was ever on the check in desk and there were no earplugs in the reception area so we ended up buying some. Granted after we did the next 2 nights were a pleasant sleep.
I think we were the only ones staying at the time so cannot comment on other guest noise.
The bed and pillow was comfy. Shower was hot. The tv didn't work but no issue for us. We did feel safe staying here. Locked door and also a gate at the entrance.
We would stay again as the location is fantastic and the room was clean. However, we would take our own earplugs next time and we wouldn't stay street view.

When I arrived at the hotel late (I had messaged ahead to say what time I would arrive) there was no answer when I pressed the buzzer. I phoned them and was let in by a member of staff who apologised for having fallen asleep. My room was very close to the desk which wasn’t ideal because I could hear other guests moving around and arriving, but I have to say everytime I passed there was not a member of staff there. The biggest problem I had at this hotel was other guests being noisy, although this is not the fault of the staff if there was someone there they could have told them to be quiet much sooner than they did. The guests were shouting from about 1am to about 3am when a member of staff eventually came downstairs and told them to be quiet. A similar problem occurred the following night when a guest got locked out and was ringing the bell for about an hour and another guest had to let them in. The location of the hotel and facilities are good but I had two awful nights sleep so I cannot recommend this hotel.

Good clean rooms with extremely thin walls & no breakfast
I stayed at Amber guesthouse rooms for 4 nights as a solo traveller in a triple room.
1. Location: The location is next to the square & walkable distance to most of old town. It is on a main street & taxis/Uber can come till the parking opp. it. Though on Main Street, you can hardly hear street noise once window is closed. quite a few eating & drinking joints around open till late including a McDonalds at the corner that is open till early morning.
2. Property Facilities: Check-in was smooth. Reception isn’t always manned. Someone is supposed to be there morning till 6pm but on most days when I left around 10am no one was around. They do have lockers for luggage storage etc & WiFi worked fine. facility is gated (restaurant/bar on ground floor with same entrance) & I found it pretty safe. The key gives access to all doors. No lift to go to 1st floor where reception n rooms are. Arrange your arrival with them beforehand-the day I was heading out an older couple was standing down ringing the bell and there was no one st the reception yet.
3. Room: I booked the triple room no.5 n it was just comfortable for me as a solo traveller. It had a queen bed n a small single sofa cum bed. For 3 ppl it would be crowded. windows had no grills so I wasn’t ok leaving them open at night to cool off the room - it got very hot. A table fan would be good to have. walls are EXTREMELY THIN - I could hear snoring from room no.6. I was unfortunate to have a really obnoxiously noisy grp of girls in room no.4 & couldn’t get sleep as they were loud till 2-2:30am. The room has a clothes shelf, side table, small stool & enough plug points. No housekeeping in the 4 days I stayed - fine with me but I did find a wrapper from an earlier guest stuck between the wall & the bed-they might want to clean the room better?!
4. Bathroom: bathroom was shared with another room. It was comfortable. Hand wash, shampoo cum soap & towels plus bath mat were provided. Enclosed shower cubicle is tiny - It was ok for my size. A small mirror on my room door & over the sink. Toilet paper given.
5. Bed: was ok & had slats so wasn’t the best but mattress was thick so that helped.
Overall the location is worth it however if you’re a light sleeper then totally avoid - the walls are too thin & you cannot control your neighbours’ behaviour.

Was good, but my room was in the front and so the noise was quite loud when sleeping
