Location location location
Location can’t be beat! Centrally located in a very walkable, safe, not too touristy neighborhood (imagine the Williamsburg, Brooklyn of PR). 2 min walk to beach, dozens of restaurants, coffee shops, even a supermarket. Great roof deck with lots of seating- although I was surprised that no one seemed to be using it when I was there. Easy self check-in. Loved the strong a/c (others complained about it, but I loved it for sleeping!) Didn’t see staff much during my stay but they were friendly when I did see them. Less social than other hostels I’ve been to, but I stayed in a private room this time so that may be part of it. Only downside was the private room + bath was more expensive ($150/night) than I would have expected given that it was a bit rundown. Overall though, very happy with this hostel. Would recommend!

A for effort but missed the mark
A for effort!
So I've done only a few hostles in ireland, spain, portugal, london, and new york.
This place definitely tries but could just have a few improvements, first being cleanliness.
Again, A for effort, there is a daily house keeper, but they just do a superficial pass over. For example, the stairs have a layer of dirt at the creases that needs a deep clean, it's the same layer in the bathroom corners, the bathroom itself gets very humid I left the door open the whole time just to keep it cooler, but others kept trying to maintain the bathroom door closed, there is no exhaust there or fan, there is no extra bathroom in the lobby for general use (although there is one in the kitchen and lobby that either could have the potential for but they're assigned to specific room numbers).
Pros: bus stop in front will take you to Viejo San Juan, there's a take a book in front of the hostle, there's the ToGo store to the left in front of the bus stop and the SuperMax to the right, the beach is just steps away as well as a strip of hotel/casinos and resturants, Uber works in the area, you can ask for additional blankets (its freezing at night) and towels, there are no bugs, a daily housekeeper mops and takes out the garbage.
Cons: no deep cleanings, kitchen area people do not clean up after themselves, there are no paper towels in the kitchen (I bought a roll at walmart), the air fryer in the bottom drawer is broken, there are no measuring cups, there are no coffee filters for the coffee machine, the outlets near my bed were finicky BUT they do charge at the right angle. The community fridge in the kitchen is too tiny. The shelf in the bathroom was improperly installed at an angle anything you put on there (toothbrush, hairbrush, bobby pins, headphones) will fall off the shelf into the sink - but that's a quick fix just straighten it up.
Overall my stay was fine and the advantages outweigh the cons, but just some food for thought on improvement ideas.
If I had to do it over I wish I would have done a hostel in Old San Juan because I could walk to all the tourist things, but at least the bus is accessible.

Great for the weekday. It is too bad it requires 2 days minimum. The room with two beds and private shower were great

small but comfy hotel. room was exactly like advertised in hotel.com post. very nice rooftop with tubs. staff was very friendly and quick to act when we had problems with room key code.
