Excellent independent hotel in a good central location.

Especially in historic cities like Coimbra, I tend to prefer smaller, independent hotels to the big institutional “standard issue” ones, and I can recommend this friendly, clean hotel to anyone who shares this preference. Its location was great, being within easy walking of much that you will want to see in central Coimbra, and there are numerous cafes, restaurants, and pasty shops nearby. The bed was comfortable, the expanded continental-type breakfast was very good, and my room television accessed a variety of stations, including several English-language ones (not that anyone goes to Coimbra to watch television, but during the mid-December rains I encountered, this came in rather handy at times!). There’s still a lot more I need to see in Portugal, but should I return to Coimbra again, I’ll expect to stay at the Domus once more.

Superior location

This location is perfect a block from the train station easy walking distance to the river my room was roomy ensuite. Bed was comfy and staff friendly. Walking distance to most things. The only handicap was no elevator so if stairs are a problem request ground floor.

Good budget option in Coimbra

Budget hotel, not far from the train station but a very nice version of that style of hotel. Expect some stairs, no immediate parking but there are several garages nearby. Excellent location close to the train station, restaurants and directly below the University. Rooms were comfortable.

The hotel is only a hundred or so metres from the train station, but it is quite quiet because it is on a narrow side street. The staff were very friendly and accommodated my early arrival and allowed me a space to wait an hour after check out time before I headed to the bus station.

I did have a good time at the hotel. At the center of the city, Coimbra, you could almost go anywhere.
The train is nearby so if you need to get to the hotel then, you are not that far from Hotel domus.
As it was in the center of Coimbra, I was not expecting to be quiet. It was noisy, but as a solo traveller, it did not affect me in anyway.
The hotel facilities were cleaned, affordable. Breakfast is not included in the price, as it is something you can have apart by paying 5 euros, which is not bad.
The room allocated, had a small TV, a private bathroom and a bed, even though, when moving, the bed made a lot of noise.
Overall, I had a good time and the receptionists were very welcoming and always ready to help with any queries.
