Home away from home

A great place to stay. I've stayed a total of one month spread over two trips, felt like a home away from home, the hostel has everything you need. A good kitchen, a place to dry wetsuits, a small front garden to chill in the sun. Everything was very clean since the hostel is cleaned regularly. Francesco is very friendly and accommodating, knows a lot about all the local breaks and can give you advice on where to surf depending on the swell etc. Only a short walk from the beach and very reasonably priced.

One night is all you need

I agree with all the other reviews, the owner is a super nice guy & even worked out a good price for my extended stay. But truth be told, the place is filthy, the kitchen counter tops have never been wiped, oven is dirty, one frying pan,no toaster & just plain dirty. I had the private room which has years of dirt build up. I had to give it a good clean to feel comfortable in the room.

Awesome owner, very friendly and helpful

H20 surfguide is really near the beach and adapted for surfers. Francesco, the owner, gave us great tips of the surf spots for our surfing level, the restaurants, the bars and nightlife. He suggested that we go to dinner with all the guest of the hostel. He is very friendly and welcoming.
The only downside was that around march the rooms can get a bit cold as there is no heating. Overall, it was a great place for surfers and would recommend it to my friends!

Hostel for surfers!

I stayed three nights in H2O Surfguide hostel during my trip in Portugal. Francesco is really nice, he picked me from Lisbon airport with quite a short notice. He is helpful and gives good tips for Peniche's and Baleal's restaurants! The rooms and other spaces are clean, really good for the price. The rental surfboards are in good condition :)
The nearest surf spots are within 5 minutes walk, the beach is totally awesome! I advise you to rent a bike and drive to Peniche - in addition to surfing, which is the main activity in the area!

Great hostel with very friendly owners

I stopped in balael to buy a new board and stayed here for 3 nights.The owner Francesco is very nice guy and very helpful with tips for all surfers.There is no reception etc so basically you have the place to yourselves.Great for a big group of friends.Will be back in the summer when the sun decides to come out.Cheers Paul
