Good hotel with great views
We stayed 2 nights. The hotel is centrally located, in front of the beautiful convent of San Francesco.
We recommend parking in the free public car park on Rua Consul Dabney which is a 5-minute walk from the hotel, because the streets around are narrow.
The hotel is a bit dated in its furnishings, maybe a bit to renovate, but it's fine anyway.
Room 212 clean and spacious, with terrace and great views of the harbor and Pico.
Breakfast is plentiful and good.
Friendly staff. We recommend it!

Disappointment
Residential 1 star, neither photos I took so bad that was the experience. I stayed in a room that smelled like mould. The fact that he was old and humble posed no problem. The problem was the lack of cleaning, the intense mould smell (like when we opened an old drawer that has not been opened for years), the fact that there were no hygiene products, namely shampoo and bath gel, only soap and also no dryer... I still thought to ask at the reception but as there was also no shampoo nor asked. There were also burned lamps (room had 2 beds and above which I stood the lamp did not turn on) and the ceiling of the bathroom did not turn on either. Stayed 2 nights. At the first I did not complain but the next day I asked at the reception, politely, I think it was to the owner's son, that they let the room air a little bit more because it was with an immense mould smell and that they replaced the burned lamps. He said he was gonna solve the matter in time, with a smile that seemed ironic to me. And it was, in fact, because when I arrived at night it was all the same. They did absolutely nothing. In the middle of the night I still saw a centopeia on the wall. And at breakfast he also had a cockroach rolling around the wall. I still had another room to check if the smell was the same and that at least did not smell so much mold and had better appeared. But in terms of cleaning and hygiene products was the same. The only positive thing is actually the location. But if you have another option, don't think twice. I don't even know how long it was because I was on a circuit. But personally, I'll never go back to that residential. Suggested more sympathy and concern for the guests. Besides hygiene and care.

Unpleasant
Very unpleasant. Receptionist Rodolfo very hostile and unhappy. Gave me a room where there were already guests inside, it was very bad for both. When I told him he gave me a busy room, he wasn't worried. Besides, I booked a room with sea view and was not assigned to me. A lot of staff noise at 7 a.m. Transparent curtains without privacy.

Lack of hygiene
At the time of check-in, the sanitation of the room to be occupied was not done which in itself represents an unacceptable fault. Some of the corridors had several cockroaches. The bathroom light did not work, limiting the guest to have lighting only through the mirror light. I suggest improving these points since the view even is very beautiful.

Poor and puritan
Well, the hotel is very poor and puritan: there was not even a chair in the room, the bathroom is “old fashioned”, the cleaning staff somehow rearranged everything meaning that for example he/she threw my pajamas on the shelf next to the bed, the window is at least 100 year old so you can hear every noise and you cannot even open the window unless you pull it up and put a thing under the window that holds it. The breakfast was poor, however it was quite a surprise that they offered Starbucks coffee. It was complicated to connect to the WiFi, the receptionist had to type in the pw and explain the different networks. I am quite sure that during my batteries did not recharge during the sleeping.
