Smješten u povijesnom centru i glavnoj komercijalnoj četvrti Lagosa, Caravela je dvokatni hostel koji nudi 16 udobnih soba. Dostupan je besplatni WiFi. Grijane sobe opremljene su velikim ormarima, komodama, pomoćnim stolovima i stolicama.

I'm more than satisfied. Value for money unbeatable.
Today on 08.05.25 checked in for a day directly extended by a day the location is ideal for those who just need a bed and want to spend little the is very well taken care of here. The lady at the reception was very nice and accommodating. The roof terrace is outstanding.

It’s bad…. but worse.
It’s difficult to review Carvela. As it’s cheap, you expect it to be bad, and it is. So the question is whether it’s value for money.
The location is right in the centre of Lagos old town, but as Lagos is small, most accommodation is well-located anyway.
Rooms are private with an in-room sink and you share bathrooms, but there’s little soundproofing, so bring ear plugs! You get towels and bed linen is clean, but there’s no in-room soap or shower gel. Rooms have no heating, fans or air-con which is crazy. I was very cold during the off-peak season and I imagine it would be like a sauna during summer. Wi-Fi varies from not connecting to being fast, so it’s unreliable.
My shared bathroom had strong water pressure with lots of hot water, but lacked a basic wall attachment, meaning you needed to hold the shower head.
Also, the communal ‘kitchen’ area is a joke and feels like a health hazard, it would take little effort to make this so much better.
Most of these things are acceptable for a low nightly price, and could still give the property a decent rating. However, the main issue is that the property is being very badly maintained. Weirdly you can see small attempts have been made to improve the place (like the nice bedroom floors), but there are so many other things wrong. For example, there is just no excuse for having mould on walls and fabrics (see photos). I actually became ill whilst staying in this room. This mould, along with the damp patches, are a health risk, and the local authorities should investigate this. For this reason alone, it deserves the lowest possible rating.
Overall, the impression is that the owners just do not care. Without spending a lot on renovations, the owners could make vast improvements. With renovations, it could be a beautifully charming guest house, charging premium prices, in central Lagos. This place needs new owners with the vision to make the changes required.

Decent stay
Although the structure is old, the beds are very comfortable and you sleep well at night, if the room overlooks the courtyard.
The room and the shared bathroom I found them clean; the first, however, is not cleaned during the stay. They might find a bar of soap in the room.
A refrigerator and a microwave are available next to the reception.

The couple who manage the pension is kind and in my case was particularly so because, not working the shutter of the room, they transferred me to another that was double and therefore more comfortable.
But the first floor needs to be renovated and modernized: the door locks do not work well, the furniture, upholstery and sanitary ware (sink in the room and bathroom with shared shower) are antiquated and in the rooms and hallway there is still carpeting.

Lousy.
In the room there were cockroaches and ants, the owner one night before we left asked us out several times with two 5-year-olds who were going, all because I told him that there could not be cockroaches in the rooms.

stayed for 4 nights again recently.. love the roof area. room was nice and clean.
showers could use some TLC but all in all the place is still great. right bang in the center of lagos old Town right in the thick of it... loads of bars shops and restaurants right outside your doorstep
