Great hotel, good rooms and friendly staff.

The location of this hotel is very central, right in the center. Just look: between 2 shops there is a narrow passageway with the sign above with the name of the hotel. There you ring the bell and then the door is pressed for you. The reception is located on the 1st floor, the staff at the reception are friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, neatly clean with mini fridge, safe, extra duvet and pillow. The bathroom was clean and was provided with fresh bath towels and toiletries every day. There was no coffee/tea making facilities in the room. The breakfast buffet was excellent, a wide choice of everything and it was always supplemented. Friendly staff and friendly staff.

Weekend at the Cathedral Hotel

Very clean hotel, very central....
The quality/price is pretty good.
Breakfast, great and varied
Comfortable bed!!
The bathroom is still a little old, but it is big!!
The nearby streets are beautiful, it is the old area of the city.
Reception staff are very friendly

Very well located hotel

Very flexible welcome with a personalized reception service for breakfast already at 7:30 a.m. small but functional room. Easy access to the city center right next to the cathedral near the buses or the ferry. Fair price...

A central hotel, but nothing more.

Hotel Catedral is centrally located in Funchal with a short distance to everything. The hotel serves a simple breakfast and has a 24-hour reception. The room we got was small/cramped and had a lot of noise from the street. The shower was in the bathtub without a non-slip mat. The hotel had no information in the hotel room, nor were we given any information. We stayed at the hotel for 14 days without any contact with the hotel apart from when we arrived and when we left.

The best location in town

A small 3 stars hotel with a perfect location in the heart of Funchal center , just across the touristic harbour.
There are 5 leveles with an open terrace on the fifth floor where you can smoke , enjoy your coffee or simple watch the nice panorama in front of you .
The hotel has a modern elevator .
Our room was quite small, with old but functional furniture .Still , the double bed was narrow for 2 adults ( only 155 - 160 cms in width ) and the matress rather rigid .
Bathroom was ok , no complaint . I still suggest to the management to replace the very big body towels with much smaller ones because there is not enough space to let them dry properly .
Air conditioning was perfectly working .
Wifi signal was good .
Room cleaning was done everyday.
Hotel does not offer lunch or dinner but this is not a problem with so many restaurants around .
Breakfast is 3 stars standard but the same products are offered every day so it becomes boring soon .
But the best in the hotel was the staff : very polite, nice , kind , obliging . Thank you all !
Tips :
Take care at reservation because :
- not all rooms have balcony
- not all rooms have front ( nice ) view
- not all rooms have minifridge
Please take into consideration that the hotel is placed near The Funchal Catholic Cathedral and the big bells mark the time every hour, quarters, halves and 3 quarters of hours from 6 in the morning to 8 in the evening !
All together , we had a nice stay and could came back here any time !
