We had a great stay! Wonderful location by the sea, the Lido promenade and a bathing complex. Good breakfast. Beautiful view from the breakfast terrace and pool area. There is also a small gym and an indoor pool. The photos of the hotel do not do the hotel justice.
Our room had fridge, slippers, bathrobes and a balcony with a breathtaking view. Beds were comfortable but sheets a bit too small for the madrass and cover.
Restaurants and a small shopping mall nearby. Easy to take a bus to town.

Interesting experience
If you want a base for exploring Madeira that is quite with nothing going on in the hotel, then this is ideal. The views from the hotel are wonderful. There is noise during the day, as there is a public access area outside the back of the hotel. This didn’t bother us at all.
The breakfast is adequate but we found it repetitive. No omelette station, as previously mentioned by others. The staff are generally nice, but many of them seemed miserable.
This hotel has no atmosphere at all. It’s such a shame, as it has a lot of potential.
The drink prices are double what you pay elsewhere, so maybe this is a factor. We only witnessed two couples drinking in the bar, in the 11 nights we were there.
The only people eating in the evening seemed to be half board. The buffet evening meal wasn’t great according to people we spoke to. I would recommend booking B&B.
There is a courtesy vehicle that runs too and from Funchal a couple of times a day. Busses run from outside. We used Uber a lot, which are reasonably priced.
We did a west of Madeira tour, which was good. Booked through the GetYourGuide app. Cable car and botanical gardens are worth a visit. Eating out - use the
‘Thefork’ app to book restaurants. Some of them do discounts. The best one we found as Martucci with 50% off food. Avoid the Thai Funchal & grill. Câmara De Lobos is worth a visit. We had a meal at Pier One, but you must book before you go, as they were turning people away. Alforno Italian restaurant nearby is amazing, I had the pizza which was lovely. Loft is meant to be good during the day. Hoyo Hoyo flavours of Mozambique very good. There is a cafe just outside the Forum shopping centre which is good for daytime snacks. Supermarket inside has everything. Get your water from there as the hotel charges €2.50 for bottles of water. We didn’t use the safe as that’s an extra cost.
The hole in one is worth a visit. The restaurant next door, Chalet Vincente, was being refurbished but was recommended to us by friends.

Very pleasant stay.
This is a lovely, quiet, clean, adults only hotel. We were half board - breakfasts were good but evening meal left a lot to be desired. If we went again would definitely only do bed and breakfast. There were very few residents who were having evening meal which is telling. Small pool which is fine for a dip but not really for any swimming. Not many sunbeds, would help if people weren't allowed to reserve. Did not really agree with service charge for drinks with evening meal and fell into the trap of paying for water which we thought was just tap water! Courtesy bus into Funchal but a decent walk if preferred. Would go again.

Hotel needs upgrade
We are a bit mixed on this hotel.
It’s quiet and dead by 9pm which actually suits us but may not suit all.
However, our room was dated with a faulty shower head which we reported on day 1 but was never sorted; cost of drinks at pool bar was very high; staff not very engaging with the exception of receptionists. The gym consists of very old machines in varying states of disrepair; steam room ineffectual with an odd smell. We had breakfasts each day which were ok but never took an evening meal as the price was high for what looked like a very ordinary buffet.
All in all, no where near the claimed 4 sta.

Horrible
My experience at this hotel has been quite disappointing, and honestly, I would not return nor would I recommend it.
To begin with, the hotel in general feels very old and neglected, with facilities that are clearly outdated and in urgent need of renovation. The pool is quite small and does not match what one expects from the advertising.
The gym is completely obsolete, with old machines and very little maintenance. The parking is terrible, poorly organized, and uncomfortable.
Regarding the spa, it was a great disappointment: more than a spa, it seems like a cold water pond, with no atmosphere, no music, and no relaxing experience whatsoever.
At the bar, the cocktails are quite bad, the drinks are overpriced, and the service in general leaves much to be desired. The attention from the staff was not good throughout the entire stay.
The room was also not up to par: the shower screen was dirty, the bathroom faucet was rusty, and the television was old, constantly losing signal and had no channels in any language other than the local one, which is quite poor for a hotel that receives tourists.
There was also a rather surreal situation: we were watching a soccer match, and when extra time arrived, they directly turned off the main switch and cut the broadcast, leaving everyone unable to finish watching it, without warning or providing any explanation. A detail that reflects very little consideration for the customers.
Finally, the breakfast was quite bad, with little variety and quality far below expectations.
In summary: old hotel, deficient facilities, poor value for money, and service that is clearly improvable. A disappointing experience.
