Cosy character house in the heart of Marvão
We stayed here for a three night stay in early May, lots of character and interesting crooks and crannies with plenty of space for our family of four. Three bathrooms and an amazing view from each room, the weather turned cold when we visited, so the woodburner and ac were much appreciated. Would highly recommend this lovely old house situated right in the heart of the village.

Cozy weekend
Very friendly staff. Great breakfast. Comfy bed. Great view over Marvão. While here please go to Varandas do Alentejo restaurant. Overall a very nice hotel with a the friendliest hostess to visit an historic village.

Small but excelent
Payment in cash, no credit cards accepted. Its best to pack a small overnight bag and leave the rest in the car. To be on on the safe side park your car within the walls. Its just a 3 min walk from the parking and up a a flight of stairs. Maria Jão has two bed rooms each with a separate bathroom but not connected to the room and one suite. everything spotless. Maria João very friendly and goes out of her way to give you the best possible stay. Excellent price for what you get. Air conditioning/hot air

Simple but very good breakfast, home made jams, cheese, ham. Fresh orange juice, coffee and hot milk. Free WiFi

nice, cozy and typical
Its a small house with 2 or 3 bedrooms. The service is done by Dna. Maria João very friendly and respectful.
The room was tidy with an excellent view over the countryside below Marvão.
I will definitely recommend this place to people visiting Marvão.

The best value in Marvao. Loved it!
Stay here! My husband and I spent one night here in June and couldn't have been more pleased. It's an excellent value for the price. The pictures don't do it justice - it's more modern and updated than it looks. It's one of those old white buildings inside the old fort walls, but it has been remodeled, or at least updated, inside. We booked the "town view" room to save money and loved it. You'll get enough of the view just walking around town.
We paid 45 euros on a Friday night in June. Credit cards aren't accepted so be prepared with cash!
The bed was comfortable enough - most European mattresses are a little hard and old compared to American hotels, but I found this bed average for Europe. The room was pleasantly quiet and dark for sleeping. There is a cozy terrace for two on the shared patio upstairs with a nice view of the rooftops and valley below.
The shared bathroom was clean, well-equipped, and had nice water pressure.
The woman who runs the inn was very friendly and welcoming. She speaks enough English to get by, but not a ton.
Breakfast was a typical large assortment of bread, cheese, ham, jams, yogurt, juice, and coffee/tea. Served individually at her dining table.
Location - couldn't be better. This is a tiny town (and worth the trek out there!), and so all places are centrally located if you chose something inside the old fort walls, which this is.
Parking - there are a couple of spaces at this inn, but it's also very near the main arch entrance that marks the entrance to the old walled town. There is some public parking (about 10-15 spaces) just outside the arch. We left the car there and walked the 1 block to the inn. It's easier to leave your car outside the arch if you don't have much luggage.
We definitely recommend this place and would stay here again.
