Best coffee in Portugal!
Best breakfast!
We are here for the second time and love the quiet time in the nature. There are still constructions to make but they make wonderful progress and be always nice. It do not disturbed our staying. (:

Beautifully located, quiet accommodation. The pool, the food, and the service are all a dream. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, it was very disappointing despite the beautiful setting.
Unfortunately, I will not remember the accommodation positively, even though the gentleman who welcomed us and took care of breakfast was very nice. The price (€160 per night) and the 4 stars were unfortunately not justified.
The first impression of the room was already difficult. On the bed were small, red spiders that leave spots that look like blood (see photo). Upon inquiry, we were informed that the spiders are not harmful; they are everywhere on the property, including in the room. Since we were traveling with a baby, I would have liked to know this beforehand, leaving an uncomfortable feeling. The room had a very strong artificial scent upon entering, which caused headaches. After we used the toilet flush, it became clear why. The smell from the toilet was very unpleasant and seemed to be covered up. There was mold above the shower, which is not acceptable, at least for the price and four stars.
The breakfast was fine; the room where breakfast is served is very nice, and it offers a great view. Unfortunately, there was no shady spot outside the hotel; the umbrellas are beautiful for photos, but they are crocheted. Here and there, there are still smaller construction sites on the premises, which can be dangerous for children.

Holidays on the construction site of a poorly run hotel
We wanted to try Monte do Alento for a long time, because we also lived in the area for some time. Now we had finally booked two nights - and were relatively horrified by what was put in front of us.
When booking (only payment in advance by bank transfer) the owner "forgot" to mention that the hotel, which is quite run-down from the outside, is just a large construction site. Upon arrival, the receptionist only said that the workers would stop at 5 pm. In my opinion, this behaviour borders on or is fraud!
Other deficiencies:
- The room was not made. There was only a splash of blue liquid in the toilet.
- The outside walls and unfortunately the inside walls of the room as well as the ceilings were full of small red mites/spiders/lice, which also crawled on the bed and floor. If you adjusted them, they left red marks.
- Neighbour had to change his room late in the evening due to severe ant infestation
- The windows of the room could not be tilted and had no fly screen, so you could not open them at night because of the mosquitoes. If you want to sleep in the fresh air, you've had bad luck.
- Towels could only be hung in the shower, there were no other hooks. On the ground the spiders/mites crawled...
- The TV had only a few terrestrial programs, the additional settop box was not functional, although a remote control was lying around
- We were not given an invoice but on departure only told it would come by email. She hasn't been. A scoundrel who thinks evil...
- There was no information about meal times, leisure activities, etc. in the room
- Internet was only around 10 Mbps via Vodafone for all guests
- There were some couples with small children there. That's OK in itself, but anyone looking for peace and quiet is definitely wrong here.
We have visited many hotels in Portugal, and this is by far one of the worst-run stores we have visited. Even half the room rate would still be too much for what is offered there.
