Excellent hotel and wonderful island
We have just returned from an island hopping tour of the azores with final destination terceira. This hotel surpassed expectations. Location perfect for accessing the town and Harbour. Very professional staff and amenities well maintained. Our junior suite was perfect, spacious, clean, quiet with beautiful views of the ocean and pool. Would highly recommend x

Spectacular Views, Excellent Hotel

The unique location and excellent layout of Terceira Mar offers spectacular views from every room. All windows and balcony’s overlook both the ocean and Monte Brazil as well as the spectacular pools and gardens of the hotel. Because my husband had a medical emergency and was hospitalized on the island, I spent 17 days at the Terceira Mar hotel. As I was there so long I had plenty of time to explore and the one thing that stood out was the cleanliness of every area. The furnishings are also lovely, with details one normally doesn’t notice when staying a few nights in a place, but that I came to appreciate as not only part of the comfort, but adding an understated elegance to every area. Finally I need to say something about the incredible staff, especially all the great people at the reception desk - all completely fluent in English. Every single person I talked to was very helpful, very caring and understanding. Their flexibility and compassion helped during a very stressful time and as my husband recovered they encouraged us in activities that gave us very positive memories of Terceira and a desire to return to Mar Terceira.

The room was clean, large, with lots of storage. The balcony and view were amazing.

Safe in room. I felt absolutely safe at all times in the hotel & on the island. We went to a festival and were invited in to join local neighbours in celebration.
Walkability
5 euro taxi to town, but a one hill walk- doable for an unfit 77 yr. old. The town is small & definitely walkable. Scenery on the island is lovely for biking, hiking.
Food & drinks
Large & varied buffet in hotel. I preferred eating in the bar, offering burgers, pasta, salads.

The staff: cleaners, waiters & of course reception - were all excellent.

The hotel was still very much in construction for the pathways connecting different parts… upon arrival at the carpark, we need to hand carried (and lifted) our luggage so as not to damage them because of all the volcanic rocks… that’s after our 8 hours hike…. Even at the reception we were politely treated by a young lady and were offered to carry one luggage (we had 4 in total). The setting was difficult for the staff. The problem came when I was standing naked in the shower figuring how and when hot water would come… eventually the same young lady came after my boyfriend made few calls… and we were offered to use the public shower at the pool ?! After 15 minutes waiting naked and exhausted and the cold water was icy cold, the answer was simply unacceptable. We ended up getting some lukewarm water from the handheld shower, but eventually the water turned back to icy cold. We were rushing for some visits, so we braved the cold and went out. We were explained just because many people were using the shower at that time (4pm) and the workers would come check the day after. We were furious !! We asked for partial refund but were declined. Instead we found a bottle of sparkling wine and a ham and cheese board in the room after we returned from dinner. All this came a little too little and too late. And we left all these untouched throughout our stay - their presence reminded us the unpleasant experience.

Great location just a walk away from the city center. Beautiful views. Great amenities. Professional and friendly staff. Great breakfast. Property in great condition.

Good (superior) room that was nicely furnished and room cleaning spotless. Very nice pool area. Breakfast good with excellent service. Information given at check-in was very inaccurate and sports activities (like gym and Paddel) very inaccessible on weekends as rendered by external contractor working on its own schedule.
