3 nights on Pico Island

great place to stay on Pico Island
I celebrated my birthday there and I was greated at breakfast with a lovely bouquet of flowers and the staff was singing for me:))))) thank you again.....
we enjoyed our stay very much.

Family holiday in the Azores

Lava Homes is a lovely place to stay if you are visiting Pico. The staff are so friendly (I have to mention Ana Silva in particular, who exudes warmth), the views are fabulous and it's convenient to have the Magma restaurant on site.

Beautiful View

We stayed in a 1 bed home which was well equipped and comfortable which had a beautiful view of Sao Jorge. Breakfast was self service. Given the cost of the accommodation I would have expected the option of requesting fresh eggs for example. An early takeaway breakfast is provided when checking out before the breakfast slot starts. Given it is a eco resort there was no recycling option in the homes or in the grounds, which would have been good. The pool was lovely. Sauna had a padlock on the door so unable to try that.

A very nice view...

The hotel is located facing the ocean and the island of Sao Jorge. Beautiful view.
We enjoyed a very spacious and very comfortable apartment. Very nice terrace.
Individual heating by pellet stove, very convenient.
Heated communal pool (we did not test, the weather in January does not lend itself), yoga room.
The staff is friendly and attentive.
The final access is not easy, via a very steep road, which makes the maneuvers difficult: parking spaces at the entrance of the site, near the reception, would be welcome.
The restaurant turned out to be disappointing. Since, in January at least, there is nothing open at 30km around, this can be a problem. Possible kitchen (there is everything you need) in the apartment.

FABULOUS STAY!!!

My husband & I stayed here for our friends birthday trip and it was FABULOUS!!!!! Our group had booked 5 of the 10 cabins (4 of the 2bds, 1 of the 3bds). Ours was Casa da Colina which was the furthest from the main building & pool area, but had the BEST view from our terrace. The home itself was AMAZING! Beautifully appointed, great kitchen, walls of windows, 2 large bedrooms, a giant bathroom, big living/dining area, large terrace, just incredible. The staff was also fantastic, all speak fluent English, even a few Canadians. The pool area was superb as was the yoga studio. The restaurant, Magma, was great for morning breakfasts and we also had a delicious dinner there too. The staff looked after the 20 of us NYers really well! They even made us a breakfast to go to take since we had an early morning hike up Mt. Pico.
One thing to note, is that if you have any mobility issues then I wouldn't recommend unless you can score a cabin by the main building. Even with that there are stairs to the pool or a SUPER STEEP road to get to the parking spaces or other cabins below.
We are all physically fit men (climbed Pico) and we even slipped on the rocks in the parking lots or road.
