good hotel in Kigali
My husband and I spend a few nights at the Serena prior to a gorilla trek
The hotel had a very nice pool area, the pool was unheated but surrounded by trees and lounge chairs...a tropical air ...
The buffet breakfast was very good ,many options and was included in the stay.
We ate dinner at the hotel, which was just ok...when we wanted to try the buffet the restaurant was closed for the evening..so we opted for the bar/lounge .
The room was ok, I did notice broken wiring , in the bathroom, broken lamps that were on the wall and stained rugs. The room was clean , so that counted for a lot to me.
The bathroom shower was good, hot water, nice towels ...the staff was very accommodating.
We mostly stayed at the hotel since we were not in an area that was close to to any restaurants and we did not want to start looking for food...I did read that Kigali has a thriving culinary scene and was sorry that we did not try to discover it.

Nice hotel with great location
During our business trip in Kenya and Rwanda, we chose Serena after careful consideration. And it was a good decision as we were very pleased. Good service, nice rooms, good pool area and a well equipped gym.
