Never Again
I do not recommend this hotel, and it's not because of the price, but because the value for money is extremely poor. For a hotel that claims to be 4 stars, it certainly doesn't live up to that standard—those four stars seem to belong in the sky.
I'll start with the positives before moving on to the negatives.
The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and smelled nice, it was fairly spacious, and there was a sea view (although the sea is quite far away).
The balcony was also quite large, but it offered absolutely no privacy. The guests in the neighboring rooms could easily see you, and the gaps between the balcony dividers were so large that you couldn't even leave the balcony door open comfortably.
The bathroom: the toilet flush was very weak, and every time you took a shower, the bathroom floor flooded. The shower mat with suction cups felt unsafe and was actually a slipping hazard. There was no separate shampoo, no hair conditioner, no body lotion—as you would expect from a respectable 4-star hotel. There was no handheld bidet spray, and the hairdryer was of very poor quality.
The breakfast offered a wide variety of food, but most of it lacked flavor. Some of the pastries were good, though not all of them. The coffee was... well, let's just say it barely qualified as coffee. The milk was served in uncovered pitchers, and the fried eggs were simply stacked on top of each other.
The restaurant staff were very young and inexperienced. They didn't seem to know how to take an order properly and came to our table three separate times to ask for the same order.
The reception staff seemed bored and showed no enthusiasm whatsoever. There wasn't even a simple "Welcome." We only received our room at 5:35 p.m., and if we hadn't gone to the reception desk ourselves to ask about it, we probably would have waited even longer because nobody bothered to call us.
When you pay €400 for three nights (around 2,000 RON), you naturally expect quality service. Unfortunately, it seems that some businesses are only interested in taking your money rather than providing the service you paid for.
We work hard to earn this money—it doesn't fall from the sky, and we certainly don't receive it for free. That's why we had higher expectations.
The room didn't even have a coffee machine or an electric kettle to make a cup of tea.
The four stars of Hotel Ambasador belong in the sky, not on the building.
Never again. This was a huge disappointment and a complete rip-off. At least we've learned from this experience, and in the future we'll choose other countries where customers are treated with the respect they deserve for the money they spend.
I sincerely hope that hotel ratings in Romania will be reassessed, because we are paying prices comparable to those abroad while receiving services of a much lower standard.

It was a splendid hotel long time ago, but now....the owners are not interested in supervising the way that the employees are doing their jobs. The windows and the mosquitos doors are not clean, as well the balcony; there is no cleaning service in the rooms, unles if you ask for it, and that means only change the towels and put some new cleaning products in the bathroom. The curtains are not fixed, and the stuff hardly accept to solve the problem. The carpets in the halls have spots. The breakfast restaurant has a floor very bad cleaned, so your shoes remained stick on it...the fruits in a bad condition...The outside area looks like the place was nobody's...the pool, the grass, the flowers, everything was so badly managed, with crushed pieces in easily to see places. A man with the right arm broken it supposed to take care of this area, but he stays on the turist chairs to contemplate....So sad..when the view is so wonderful to have such plenty of no comfort

From a bygone era...
The hotel needs a lot of work to bring it up to modern standards. The hotel gardens are in an appalling state and gives the impression of a run down abandoned building. The constant loud house music by the pool is very annoying. The rooms appear to have been recently modernised but the bathrooms have not. There are no power points in the rooms other than for the fridge or the tv. Staff were friendly but it was not a good look to see them sitting on the front steps smoking. The wifi was unreliable and the food was underwhelming. Overall the experience was of a tried old hotel. Short walk to the beach.

Acceptable accommodation, close to beach
Spent one night w family (2 kids). We had 2 double-rooms - one lake view, the 2nd sea view. View from balcony is good, free to the sea.
Have not used the pool, but is very small. Wondering how the picture from booking.com was taken, as there it looks huge.
Breakfast is acceptable. Rooms are bit outdated.
Location is pretty good if you look for beach relax, with beach beds included, as well towels.
Staff looks very friendly, we could check-in already at 10:30 in the morning.
4* is not justified, I would say more a 3* hotel.

4 star hotel disappointing
We arrived at the hotel around 13 o'clock and we announced that we would be called on the phone when the room was ready! We were not called-the receptionist forgot- = but we came back at around 16 o'clock and got the room, thinking that this is politics at this hotel: the rooms are after 16 o'clock!
The towels, which should have been white, were gray, with lipstick and powder.
The very poor dinner with few products and empty trays at 20 o'clock is served between 19 o'clock and 21 o'clock!
The nervous and unprepared staff.
At the hotel bar they did not know how to prepare cocktails - they do not know recipes and the ingredients are missing.
Unprotected green space.
Wifi good.
Remnants of construction or broken beds, carpeted, were seen from the balconies.
The towels, which should have been white, were gray, with lipstick and powder.
