Wonderful Hospitality and View above Town of Vama
This small Lodge sits just above the floor of the valley of the town of Vama. This places it above the morning smoke and mist so that the view from the back deck enables one to clearly see the sunrise. The rooms were nice. The food and wine was great especially the preparation lessons. Our 10 person group took up the entire lodge. We used it as a base for touring the area for several days. It was a superb experience.

Two nights of insomnia and a very average breakfast
We should have read previous travellers’ reviews more carefully to identify the main problem with this accommodation, the incessant barking concerts that will keep you up. Apparently, this problem has existed for years and it is likely to last so, if you want a chance to sleep, it is better to go elsewhere.
To this crippling problem, we must add many other elements that blunted our initial expectations: expeditious welcome (no Owner or employee seems to stay on site) and insipid breakfast that prompted us to refuel in the village of Vama to eat something more appetizing. The predominant nagging Impression is that the tourist is a wallet on legs that we hardly care about. This short-term vision is quite cynical and we hope this review will avoid you making the same mistake as Romania is full of much more qualitative accommodation.
To this crippling problem, we must add many other elements that blunted our initial expectations: expeditious welcome (no Owner or employee seems to stay on site) and insipid breakfast that prompted us to refuel in the village of Vama to eat something more appetizing. This short-term vision is quite cynical and we hope this review will avoid you making the same mistake as Romania is full of much more qualitative accommodation.

Nice, but…
Very good location for a visit to the Moldau monasteries! The lodge is located on the mountainside with a fantastic view, is clean and well-maintained, but does not offer any guest service.
The breakfast is typical of the country and is offered as a manageable buffet.

Nice view but not a good value for money
Pensions in Bucovina are known for their hospitality and for the good food they offer.
This is only partly true with this location which is more like a tourist trap.
We spent the New Years Eve there and the final costs reached the same level as for locations in Austria or Bavaria, without delivering the same quality.
The food was tasty but the portions were not so generous as the usual portions served in the region, traditional sweets were marketed as home-made although they seemed standard products bought at the bakery.
At the end, a simple question regarding the final price was answered in a rather indelicate manner and although the check-out was not due, the personnel started cleaning around, placing at some point a vacuum cleaner on the table were we had breakfast two hours before.
Some positive aspects: the view from the restaurant and terrace is spectacular and the location is also equipped with a billiard and ping-pong table.
An old traditional house from Bucovina is placed in the pensions garden and is definitely worth a visit.
Overall, if you are in search of an authentic experience in Bucovina you can find better alternatives in the region.

Peace and quiet - the best
In August 2018 we spent 6 nights in this great location. In order not to get lost, as we did the first time, coming from Gura Humorului, from the main road, you have to take right on an alley before a Profi store. There is a fairly small indicator, but if you go by more than 30 km/h you do not see it. Then access to the pension is quite difficult, because they are on an alley that only one car enters. After slaloming on this narrow alley, you have to climb the hill and the guesthouse is the last house on the left, a pretty large house with the floor and the attic. Behind the pension, on the hill, there is the fir forest; the pension’s garden is quite large, the other houses are far away in front of the pension. From here the view of Vama and the entire valley is absolutely conquering.
The pension is beautiful, cozy, arranged in rustic Bucovinian style, but also with a lot of Ikea furniture!? In the attic there is a large space with a billiard table and a ping pong table, very appreciated by my children. The guesthouse has wi-fi, which works very well and can be paid with the card. The rooms are large, clean and all have a very beautiful view. The rooms are cleaned and the towels are changed daily. Still, I do not understand why they save on the shower gel and shampoo!?
We had 2 rooms, joined, upstairs and united by a very large terrace. The surprise was that lunch is not served and at dinner the menu is fixed and is decided by the host. This, initially we did not agree, but then there was no problem, because we were traveling all day long and we found other places where we have eaten very well. At dinner we have eaten only the first day and it was very good. Breakfast is ok, but for a 4* pension, it would have been nice to have a bigger variety, bread and coffee to be of better quality, and the cruel sausage served every morning could have missed, anyway they did not eat at all. But, these small minuses are almost canceled by cleanliness, quietness and especially by the wonderful view! It's a place where you can relax, charge your batteries and feel good. It's worth to come back in this place!
