Some improvement needed!

We recently stayed at Kodiak Compass Suites for 3 nights prior to meeting our group tour and then for one night after the tour. We had booked an extra night on our own and upon checking in wanted to join that reservation to the group reservation in order to stay in the same room for our 3 night stay. Well...what ensued was nothing short of the longest, most absurd check-in we've ever experienced. Forty minutes we waited while the line behind us grew longer. Later that afternoon we noticed 2 charges on our credit card for >1100.00 dollars each. After bringing those to the managers attention they were removed but it was shocking they were charged in the first place. The employee at the desk clearly needs training!
Our king bed (view) room on the 3rd floor was spacious and nice enough although there were stains on the carpet and a broken plastic drain cover in the shower. Be aware there are no housekeeping services at all. No one even came to empty trash or replace coffee during our 3 night stay. The stairs to the third floor also needed a good vacuuming.
This hotel could be improved by increased staff training, better attention to cleanliness, and the addition of at least minimal housekeeping for stays longer than one night.

Rooms nice-expect zero service

Rooms-spacious and clean.
Service- horrible. No room maid service (even to remove trash) for 5 days even after requesting it. Evening front desk response to inquiries about maid service “I can’t disclose personal information about the Maid schedule.” Huh? Bar closed during posted open times, inquiry at front desk was met with a shrug.
No hot water for 24 hours on departing day.

Good room and location

Nice room layout, clean and contemporary room steps from downtown Kodiak. Breakfast leaves much to be desired. Free shuttle van is a trainwreck. Several seatbelts are inopperable and back door of van wouldn't close

This suite is beautiful and quiet, and fully supplied with dishes, cookware, dish soap, etc., everything you need to feel like a home away from home. Extremely convenient for those like myself who travel for work. Exceptional value!
