Sudden cancellation

I booked for 2 nights (14-16 August) receiving confirmation on 6 June. On August 4th, when I was already traveling, I received a cancellation email. I ask for explanations and they write to me that the payment had not been successful and that they had already resold the room. I have not received any news of an unsuccessful payment, if I had received it I would have solved the problem even if I don't understand how the non-payment was possible given that I had no problem with capacity on my credit card and that in the same period I made about ten reservations all successful. I believe there is bad faith on the part of the hotel which probably resold the room at a higher price.

How much for this?

Cons:
-not exactly clean, easy to spot areas not touched for a long time
-room slopes
-property run down overall
-expensive
-old, all the furniture, fixtures, carpet, everything...
-be careful, it is not shoveled

last minute selection...next time I'll choose elsewhere

With an unfortunately circumstance of delayed flights this motel was the only lodging under $300 bucks. I'm not averse to spending money on hotels. But I expect something for what I pay.
This is in any other town a $40-80 a nite location.
I get it JH is 'special'.
Reminds me of the time I had to make a last minute trip to San Jose and paid $300 for a room at a days in. - 'open market' forces come to bear. Well the good news is they get your money just the one time.
Run down, tired, weeping wax on wood panels, uneven floors, thin towels all for the low...low price of $260... a Farce.
To add insult to injury, I had no clothes other than the business shirt I was wearing as this was a 1 day turn around. I was not invited to sit inside out of the rain or cold until my room was ready [because you absolutely cant get in until 3pm [ She eventually took pity and let me at 2:30pm to the room ]. Once the rain stopped and I warmed up I ran down to a sporting goods store to buy some warmer clothes/layers and essentials.

A night's rest -- that's about all

I wasn't expecting much and this property met my expectations. I gave this a 2 star instead of 1 because of a clean bed. The rest of the unit was moderately clean and extremely old and outdated. Looks like nothing has been updated in 40+ years. Shower was awful (painfully tight waterstream that couldn't be adjusted), air conditioner, TV, and other electrical items go dark if you hit the wrong light switch (yet no indication that this switch would cause such a blackout). Staff didn't offer help or ask if our stay was good, so I'm writing about it here. If you don't book Jackson well in advance, you may have to stay here, but I suggest booking in advance so you can explore other options.

Might be haunted

So first the good things about this hotel.
-close to town center (about 2 miles)
-laundry room on site
Unfortunately that's it for the good.
Bad things:
-very uncomfortable beds...hard as a brick and tiny pillows.
-rooms are outdated and smell like old carpet.
-not very clean, spiders in the room, even on the bed
-very limited parking. They fill up fast at night.
-tiny tv's
The room had an eerie feel to it. My husband woke up screaming twice in the middle of the night, saying he was having the worst nightmares of his life. Nightmares about loved ones hurting him and killing him. (This never, ever happens with my husband). We had to step out of the room at 3am because the energy was so scary and powerful. I was counting down the minutes for our check out. This hotel might be a little lower in price than the others nearby but trust me it's not worth it. I saw so many other charming places in the area, i know we would've been much happier somewhere else. The staff was nice, nothing against them.
