I absolutely loved this place. From the moment you walk into the lobby you know you're in a great place. Room is spacious, well decorated and maintained! Highly recommend having dinner at the Buffalo restaurant. One of the best meals I've had. It's a great stop on the way to or from the Badlands or the Black Hills.

The room was hot and the air didn’t work very well. No elevator for the second floor, so you had to carry your suitcase upstairs. The breakfast wasn’t very good. It was crammed into a small area (makeshift chuck wagon ) that people had to fumble around each other to get what little they had to eat.

Five stars for clean and well maintained. But several things annoyed me, I don't ever plan to stay there again.
There was an additional $7 charge for credit card fees. If you can't just roll that cost of doing business into the room rate, I won't return.
Years ago most hotels only loaded a few tissues into the dispenser to limit the amounts stolen. Maybe the box was legitimately close to empty, but only about ten tissues for three people wasn't enough.
Breakfast was okay, but the clerk tending the food was kind of rude. There was a small tray of sweet rolls covered by a clear plastic dome. The tongs for taking a roll were sitting on the table top without a plate under them. My wife took a roll and put the tongs on the tray under the dome, thinking that was a more sanitary location. The clerk rushed over and nearly pushed my wife out of his way to remove the tongs and put them back on the adjacent table top. I won't spend any more money at a place where the OCD employee watches us like a hawk and bristles at such minor infractions.
Murdo is a good location for us to lodge several times a year, but I'm done with it. We've had similar problems at some of the other hotels in town.

Clean well kept motel in a small town. Friendly front desk. Be sure to check out the automobile museum just down the street.

There was a large dead bug in our bed and the staff on duty did not care and was rude about it. The breakfast was horrible. Don’t stay here.
