Very pleasant for the money
This is a modest but nice resort/hotel for the money.
Beds are comfortable. Air conditioning is effective and quiet. The only problem, for certain people, is that the bath/shower/toilet room is rather small.
The swimming pool is larger than most hotel/motel pools, and there is a hot tub. The only issue with the pool area is that the men's changing room soap dispensers were empty.
The bar area is very pleasant. Personnel were welcoming and competent. Breakfast was typical "motel;" nothing to write home about.
One issue with maintenance is that there was no in-stay cleaning service, at least during our 3-night stay, which they told us about when we checked in. They cheerfully replaced towels when asked.
Altogether, a very pleasant stay, and we plan to return.

Good location, great service, excellent rates.
All the staff I encountered were extremely professional, and exceeded my expectations for this property. The property itself is older, but the rooms have mostly been updated. My room was very large, and the bedding was clean, and very comfortable, as was the other furniture. The rooms have outside entrances, which is a plus in my book.
Although I didn't need it, the A/C worked great, as well as the mini fridge/freezer, microwave, and the huge HD, flat screen TV. The television had premium channel service including several movie channels. Free WiFi worked fine for my purposes.
The location is directly off I-80 near Spring Valley and Ladd Illinois. However, there isn't much around the property, mostly fields. Really not much for kids to do but explore the outdoors, which can still be fun.
There is a Casey's quick mart and gas station on the other side of
I-80, and they have a lot of stuff. More dining and shopping is down the road at bit at the Peru exit, maybe 2 miles. There you'll find
Wal-Mart, and every franchise dining place imaginable.
I would stay at Spring Valley Inn again, based on location, price, and service. Spring Valley offers short/long term stays also, so there are some residents around, but everyone I encountered and greeted seemed pretty low key.
Smoking is not allowed in rooms, so a lot of folks go just outside their room and smoke. So if you have your door open your probably gonna smell it if that bothers you. Some of the hardware, and switches in the room were broken or just didn't work, however the main switches and lighting worked fine. The fan in the bathroom was pretty loud, but worked very well.

this motel is very nice quit & clean
Motel is very nice, clean , & so quit , room service is very excellent, this is very good deal . i suugest to visit this motel you realise like as home.this place is very close to i 80. internet wifi speed is very excellent . front desk clerk is very nice person & he is very helpfull.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
This place had terrible customer service! Heat was out in the middle of winter but not just that- the hospitality was terrible! No apologies and refused to refund our money so we could stay where there was HEAT! Had to stand out in freezing temperatures to wait for a rude manager to open the door to my 69 & 70 yr old mother and aunt. Will NEVER return and will discourage any family and friends to do the same! No wifi and was also told they clean once a week! Had to practically beg for fresh towels after 2 days!!

A unique clean comfortable place to stay and a great value.
This inn is unique with its own character. The entire facility was very clean and "modern." But they want to maintain the original look and feel.So much more interesting than the usual chain hotels/motels. For me the best part was the very large swimming pool where you could actually swim laps. And the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The only downside was that where it is located cell phone service was spotty to nonexistent at times. I had to go outside to receive service. But the WiFi worked fine.
Should I return to the area, for sure this is where I would go. Highly recommended.
