Great place for peaceful stay - not a party atmosphere

I'll start by saying that this place is very nice, 2 bed/2 bath condos surrounding a pool, all on the ocean and near everything. 2 grocery stores you can walk to and the Oasis restaurant as well. First floors have one floor, 2nd floors have bedrooms in third floor. Owners maintain their own units so make sure the one you want isn't older décor. The price is good here and they have tennis, grills, laundry - most everything that you need. I believe that most of the units are rented long-term to retirees that do not want the Spring Break crowds partying it up here. But that also means that coolers are not permitted at the pool. If you're looking for a cruise-ship atmosphere this isn't it. What it is best for are people that want peace and quiet. This is centrally located and an easy drive to shopping, restaurants, downtown, etc.

Ugly….do not stay!

We have stayed at Spanish Trace numerous times and have always been pleased. In May 2022 we stayed in #354 for a week. What a disappointment. I have contacted management 2x with no response…no sorry…no how can we make it up to you! The view and furnishings are great. Cleanliness gets a 1 rating. Over all cleanliness was very poor. Noticed things as we were there. The most disgusting was the guest bathroom. Mildew and rust all over, soap scum, bathtub clogged and all kind of nasty stuff was released while draining, as I was laying in the bathtub I saw urine stains along the side of the toilet and noticed urine and material in the corner between the toilet and bathtub. Not only am I unhappy about the cleanliness but managements disregard for our experience. It is a real shame that we will not visit again!!!!!

Spanish Trace Unit 115

We just returned from a stay at Spanish Trace. Property and facilities were nice. Pool was great and it is a short walk to the beach. We stayed in unit 115 and it looked like it had been recently renovated. It was comfortable and conveniently located but it could have been cleaner. We spent a couple of hours mopping the floor and cleaning the kitchen. Upon arrival we found dirty dishes in the dishwasher from the previous occupants. There was also what appeared to be blood on the comforter in the master bedroom. We bring our own bed linens so the provided linens promptly went in the closet. There were also a number of bugs found in the unit which included the following-moths, dragonfly, palmetto bug and a praying mantis. I live in Florida and expect some bugs but the variety and number seemed quite high. I would return to the property but might try a different unit.

Love the setting

Certainly, your experience will have something to do with the unit you stay in. and as they are individually owned, interiors differ greatly. That said, the rates here are pretty reasonable (comparatively) and the location is really good on the water.
Close to Publix and shopping. Easy access to US1 into St Augustine. Planning to return although hoping for a different unit (stayed in one with older décor).
North side units have a better view (IMO) than the south side units in terms of sunrise. Management is easy to work with.

2015 Vacation

We have been staying at Spanish Trace off and on for the last 20 years. The price for the location ( on the beach) is excellent. The few problems we had were taken care of quickly by the staff which are very friendly. A quick drive to downtown St. Augustine!
