Ever heard of 'passive cooling'? It isn't aircon.

This modern hotel is on the side of Lake Ohrid and some rooms have a beautiful lake view. The breakfast buffet was by far the best of the 5 hotels we stayed in as part of a group tour. There is a gorgeous rooftop restaurant where we ate one night. Rooms are cramped but most things work. Except, that is, for the aircon, which isn't what you and I would regard as aircon. Management describe it as 'passive cooling' which means it blows air around at ambient temperature, which when we were there meant 26-27 Celsius. Management told us to leave the window/door to the balcony open and the place would cool down - but not until late in the evening. Before that, you swelter. You can get the snowflake icon in the control panel, but it has no effect. As far as we could determine from fellow guests, the entire building suffered from this except for two rooms which have additional (real) aircon units that actively cool. We complained hard enough to get one in the end, but not before being given the runaround. E.G. 'nobody has ever complained before'; 'the hotel is full'. But if this doesn't bother you the place has good things going for it.

Terrible Hotel

Terrible. Loud music at night, we booked a room and noted that we have a small baby and they gave us literally the room pver the restaurant in which there was loud music untill 1 :00. Rooms very small and the beds also. There is no private parking, the parking is on the street.

Party location, fine if you do not want to sleep

The hotel itself is o. K. But we were there over the weekend and they played incredibly loud music until 1 in the morning in the cafe on the ground floor. It was impossible to sleep. Not to mention that the personnel at breakfast was very unfriendly. I would avoid this hotel at least over the weekend.

Basic

The hotel is an easy 10 to 15 minute walk from the main part of the old town. The hotel room was small and a bit cramped, with no space between two single beds, but it was clean and not shabby. The bathroom was very small indeed. For me personally, the breakfast was a huge let down. The hot food was cold, and we were first in for breakfast. The choices were very limited and it did not taste good. Personal preference for sure, but I wasn't alone in my opinion on our tour.
