The hostel was next to the beaches and there were local shops to buy some food nearby as well, which was very convenient. The facility’s great, had everything I needed. Helpful and smiley staff members.

Duque Nest Hostel, Costa Adeje, Tenerife
Well. I will start 1st with the rules, this place it feels like an open prison, they enforce lots of rules and also they have a curfew at 11 oclock. Everything it shuts down at 11 oclock. But still the place has a swimming pool, a jacuzi, 2 or 3 kitchens. They should bare that in mind we are guests and we are paying for staying in there.
Toilets and here is a long story. Some toillers will have shower together and some toillets will have just shower and I find it really hard to find one free during the morning.
Place is really far from Veronicas, Playa del Americas and Los Christianos. (Taxi can be €10, €15 to/ from those places).
The place is not far from Playa de Fanabe (if i got it right), some shops and bars not far, about 2 to 5 mins.
I can add that the place is not cheap, €35 per night, but can go up to €50 from what i was told. Also they organise dinner for 10 euros but you can see staff or voluntary staff helping themself from the dinner. Of course if you dont want to go out for your meal. And I can add that diner is a good option for meeting other guests.
Guests. Some super (thanks to the finish girl, Laura and to the 4 british i met, Dave, Sean, James and ... ) and some guests really good in being bad.
Beds were good enough and they come with curtains, sockets and a light for more privacy.

This hostel hates young women
Do not go to this hostel if you are a young woman. I attended this hostel as a part of a group, all between the ages of 18-20. 4 of us were placed in a mixed gender room, where were harassed by our roommates - called housewives, leered at, had our curtains opened whilst we were sat in our beds, followed out of the hostel and made feel unsafe. We had booked for 7 nights but decided after our first that the hostel was simply unsafe due to the lack of care given by the staff. We were not offered any report forms when we went to reception to complain. The receptionist implied we had lied about our experience in the room - as the guest being reported was a “long term guest”. We were offered a voucher for half the value of our stay that would expire within 3 months. We were on the hostel hopping pass, and yet were not offered alternative accommodation in another hostel.
Outside of the lack of safety and respect given to young people and women in this hostel, the hostel suffers from frequent power cuts, overcrowding, and generally bad hostel conditions. I can’t believe how many positive reviews this place has. I strongly encourage any woman considering staying with best hostels to reconsider - as they will not prioritise your safety or help you if anything happens.

The bathroom was unclean including mildew in the shower and a broken/leaking shower head. At least 8 power cuts in a hour period in that building suggests electrical failings and poor safely standards. Despite “No Smoking” signs in the room, no smoke detectors were apparent. The bedrooms were above the open kitchen meaning excess noise and poor sleep. Given such protential fire hazards, no fire escapes / exits were noticeable. Finally, although not as important as the potential safely issues raised, the bedding although clean had more creases than a piece of origami paper !

We stayed only one night and only used the room and the bathroom but it seemed that everything was kept clean and there was a calm atmosphere amongst the other travellers. We had a private room which was fine in the size, a bit too soft bed but we slept fine anyway. They had put a bottle of scent in the room which is a nice thought but it were way too strong even after we put it outside 🙈 We had a small shared balcony which were fine and were used to dry beach/pool wear. The hostel is located in a quiet area, but very close to restaurants, shops, there is a market every Thursday and Saturday which have everything you can imagine and the Fanabé Beach is 15 min of walk. The staff was very nice and helpful. There is busses close to the hostel.
