We also tried the hotel restaurant. He's super good.
The fish of the day was excellent like pesto pasta. The carrot cake and the local dessert with quince + fig feasted us.
We were awakened by roosters.

Only Stay Here If You Must - Here’s Why
Another issue we encountered was that we had booked the hotel so far in advance that we had forgotten it closes completely between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. This meant that if we needed anything during that time, there was no one available to assist us. We arrived at the hotel around 2:30 p.m. due to train delays and were instructed to wait outside or at a nearby restaurant. We spent over three hours waiting without any options. Two other couples showed up early and had forgotten these hours for closure. This seems like it might happen often. Breakfast is not offered until sometime after 8 a.m. when someone arrives.
Additionally, please be cautious when booking this hotel. They have an unusual policy requiring a physical credit card for all payments, excluding Apple Pay and other electronic methods. Make sure to bring your physical CC.
Finally, the hotel’s daily services were average at best. We stayed two nights and with NO room cleaning service. The coffee maker had used pods in it when we used it. There was no water to make coffee in the room. The shower was a gentle trickle of water. The workers are just not happy working there. The list goes on. BTW there is no pool or lake view (it was dry) as advertised.
In light of these experiences, we strongly recommend staying at one of the other hotels located closer to the El Chorro train station. But in all reality, we recommend you don’t stay in El Chorro at all if you do not have to.

Could not find this hotel
We drove 150 yards to the Hotel La Garganta and enjoyed a good meal and well earned sleep. If you are considering the Caminito walk I recommend you stay at the La Garganta as it is at the beginning and end of the walk and shuttle bus service.
