Friendly staff
No air conditioning in the rooms but in the kitchen and there's fans in the corridors

Friendly and helpful staff. Spacious kitchen. Noisy due to some ruthless guests who had no respect that they are sharing a room with others. Be prepared for too much noise from cleaning staff very early in the morning. Rooftop terrace is the best place to relax and enjoy morning breeze and afternoon sun.

Hey Lola Hostel Horror!!
Our experience at Hey Lola started off poorly and only got worse. Although staff were polite and friendly and tried their best to help, the first room we were placed in was in fact a 14 bed mixed dorm room when we had paid for a 12. It was incredibly stuffy, with lockers assigned to our corresponding beds in use and no padlocks etc. Further to this, my partner and I were allocated bunks across the room from each other which seems very unusual, even after requesting months in advance for them to be together (with an element of this being a safety aspect as a woman).
We moved rooms, seemingly with no issue and the guy at reception was very helpful. Unfortunately our stay did not pick up from here. The bathrooms were left in an unliveable state, even at 2 in the afternoon, with no toilet paper in the women’s, soaking wet floors and overflowing bins as well as unclean toilets. No locks on the women’s stalls either and no locks on the single shower allocated to the entire floor. I did email the hostel directly about the poor hygiene, but received a prompt response claiming that the hostel cannot be kept in “perfectly clean” condition at all times. I would not except this to encompass used sanitary products on the floors and toilet seats but here we are. Hey Lola would not know hygiene if it smacked it in the face.
Other travellers continued to arrive throughout the night, and were shown to their bunks and lockers in the early hours of the morning, making an already uncomfortable sleep even more impossible. Lockers clanging in the middle of the night is the most common sound to hear at Hey Lola! On top of this, a middle aged man who arrived on our final night at 2.10am decided to observe me attempting to sleep for a number of minutes from the end of my bed. I had to call my boyfriend down from his bunk as I was so uncomfortable with this whole experience.
As for the location, it was not an area I would ever choose to be alone in at night. The hostel door window was smashed (the only one not covered in bars) so beware if travelling alone.
Don’t bother purchasing a €2 towel as they have seemingly been used to clean ashtrays prior to our arrival. If you do choose to stay here - as it is cheap for Barcelona - expect far far less than what you pay for!

Flimsy loud beds, very loud storage lockers that don't fit normal locks (bad security). The hallways smell of piss. It's cheap and you get what you pay for. At least the staff are very nice, it seems dependable and reliable which is the most important thing. They have a nice rooftop terrace to hang out on as well.

Lovely
Great location, central in Barcelona. Lovely staff and great accommodation. I slept well and the showers were warm.
