Great place, friendly atmosphere and amazing host
Firstly, I completely forgot I hadn't reviewed our stay at Villa Las Dunas so apologies for the delay.
My wife and I booked for a night away so we could have a little break away from the kids and enjoy some sun and relax in peace.
This was the perfect place. Its far enough away from the hussle and bussle of El Medano but close enough for you to go into town if you want to. We had wanted to have a walk into Medano but seeing the view we had we decided to stay on our balcony and enjoy a few drinks in the Sun.
Nigel is the perfect host, very welcoming and there if you need him for anything. The rooms were clean and perfect for our one night away. We didn't use the pool but it looked very inviting and was quiet whilst we were there.
The fresh breakfast is great and been able to eat it outside in the veranda was a most welcome treat.
I had my concerns about some of the reviews mentioning cats due to been very allergic. Nigel assured me that they kept out of the way if you wanted them to and never went into the guest rooms. I didn't sneeze once and never had any of my normal symptoms so I was happy :)

Great stay at Nigel’s Place
Just had a wonderful week at Villa Las Dumas. Right from the first email communication to our last wave from the taxi he couldn’t do enough. One of the nicest people we have met. He genuinely wants to make your holiday as good as it can be. The location for us is lovely, it’s quiet with fab views. As explained el medano a 20 min walk, there is a supermarket and restaurant about 10 mins walk. El medano is full of lovely restaurants, cafes, shops etc. Plenty of water sports on offer too. You can hire all you need, at a reasonable price we thought. The B and B is a great base for trekking too. We stayed a week, def coming back as still lots to do. The climate is perfect. The pool sheltered if it’s very windy. Breakfast delicious. Nigel makes an amazing omelette!

Wrong location on trip advisor to start with!
My first gripe is that I was misled by the location of this B&B it’s not in the town of El Médano it’s a 5 minute drive or 25 minute walk out of town in a residential area called Arenas Del mar near Playa Montaña Pelada with no bars or restaurants in that area. (I have informed trip advisor the location is incorrect).
I believe in being 100% honest in my reviews & I feel misled by some of the fantastic 5* reviews for Villa Las Dunas.
Nigel is very welcoming & friendly it’s lovely to be welcomed so warmly to a B&B but then unfortunately it starts to go downhill.
I understand €50 per night is cheap for a B&B in Tenerife but unfortunately you get what you pay for here so for us it was not value for money at all.
We were in room 3 it always smelt of damp as we entered each day so not very welcoming- its very out dated & worn around the edges, not particularly clean rather dusty & the odd cobweb around, no fans or a/c or tv, very old fixtures & fittings - also little easy to fix things like The bathroom door was hard to close due to hitting a slightly raised tile which was annoying. Two old single beds pushed together to make a double are uncomfortable & the pillows are very thin & you only get one each. Towels were hard & like sandpaper.
The swimming pool is not heated so unusable as freezing without a wetsuit to keep you warm this time of year, sun beds very worn out & grubby not inviting at all, so we didn’t use the pool or the sun beds.
Breakfast was very disappointing as we had informed Nigel of our dietary requirements but we had to just make do with what was offered as standard which was not really what we expected as our options were next to nothing as our dietary requirements of being vegan & pescatarian were ignored & not catered for at all as I had thought. Coffee is instant. Mushrooms are tinned & tasteless. Croissants wrapped in plastic - cheap value options - like tiny plastic individual jams/jelly’s with film lids which were not very nice.
It’s directly next to the airport so continual aircraft noise as well.
The rooms & breakfast are generally stuck in the 1990’s & not been refreshed since, both are greatly in need of some refreshing & modernisation.

It would be 5* when the beds (matrasses) were better
Love the location of this B&B and host Nigel is super friendly. He emails you everytime you have questions, he is handing you perfect roadmaps of the island and the town itself.
But sadly I have to start with the weakest link of this accommodation and that are the matrasses. You can feel the metal springs in your back every time you turn. When that would be fixed, I would definately return someday! Wouldn't stay anywhere else on the island.
The room itself is basic but has everything you need. A fridge, a private shower and toilet. There is a free bottle of water and wine and some cookies at the start of your stay. The room has no AC, but we didn't need it late november. The nights are cool and you can leave your balconydoor safely open at night.
Love the big pool that is shared with other houses but no one other then me was swimming last week of november.
Breakfast is nice with eggs any style prepared to your liking with cheese, meats, tomato, mushrooms and there is fresh fruit (islands banana's) available.
El Medano is a nice little town only a five minute drive from the B&B with a lot of good restaurant options. And close to the islands highway so a perfect location to start your daytrips around the island. Airplanes fly over the B&B but it didn't bother me, they don't fly at night anyway.

Perfect location for wind lovers, introverts and creative persons
We took Room 1 - Twin Ensuite - SEA VIEWS - €50 per room/night. There is little balcony and if you love wind, this is a perfect location for you to recharge your batteries. The view on the ocean is gorgeous! The room and furniture are not new, but we chose this location because of the combination of good price, privacy, perfect view and experience of strong wind. I think this is a perfect location for those who seek privacy, solitude and recapitulation.
The villa itself is also very beautiful. So your eyes will be satisfied.
There is a bookshelf next to rooms, so you can read books and enjoy the calmness of atmosphere.
The host, Nigel is very friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back again to this location!
