On the Camino Norte

The ladies that run the hotel were very nice and very busy. They also run and serve at the restaurant/bar downstairs. Our room was at the end of the hotel corridor with windows that offer a beautiful view of the beach / ocean of Laredo. The room is utilitarian but clean and served it's purpose. The menu del dia offered downstairs wad a good value. A 15 minute walk down a clear path and then staircase leading into Laredo proper. Also, it was completely booked on the day we were there. They were turning people away.

Hostal Pimos

We stayed this weekend and, honestly, it was a great disappointment. The room was very small, the bathroom smelled terrible and the double bed was dwarf, the pillow very high with a poor quality mattress. You are charged 85 euros for one night in these conditions. Also, there was no air conditioning and the hotel is quite old; it seems to need an investment to improve its facilities. The only beautiful thing is the views from the terrace. We hope they can improve in the future.

Very poor care or very rude staff

I don't know where to start
1 we were attended by a very rude lady the place lacks cleaning smells bad
2 I stopped to eat and the food felt bad to several, they take a long time to attend in conclusion I would not stop there again knowing what I prefer to eat a snack

To sleep and shower, good

We stayed there basically because on August 15th it was the cheapest in Laredo. I don't care so much about the location, I don't care about walking, the views are pretty good and the breakfast too. Coffee, juice, toast, sweets... But if you have a shower with hydromassage, let your clients use it. The lever was torn off, there were some switches in the room that we didn't really know what function they had. Some lamps, both on the headboard and on the terrace that do not shine, some cookies that we found in a drawer of the table, and a peculiar smell like a pipe coming out of the bathroom.
Good attention from the woman who usually gives breakfast. Overall, it was a good experience, even if we couldn't try the hot tub.
If you are looking for accommodation on the beach, this is not your accommodation.

Outstanding Value

We needed a stopover after arriving in Santander and decided on El Carro. The place is old fashioned but it is spotlessly clean and very friendly. The food was delicious and the bill was small. Great value for money.
