Total Scam in a Horror Movie Setting
The building was under construction, covered in scaffolding and a dark net, with construction waste right outside our windows. There were junkies outside and police came to arrest someone...
As soon as we entered the building at night, we wanted cancel the booking because neither the surroundings nor the building looked safe but scary. Our room was on the first floor, the lights in the building did not have sensor, the door of our flat was a simple interior door to be easily unlocked, and inside the building there were construction tools. It was more than 38°C outside but it was impossible to open the windows due to the construction! Plus, on the scaffolding would be workers all day long! No one informed us about all these!
When we asked the assistant guy, we were told there was no one responsible to speak to and that we would have to wait until morning to talk to the manager. When we called Agoda customer service, they promised us a free cancellation of €375 and $700 to find a new room. However, after we found a new room after midnight (at about 2 AM) in a foreign country and sent them the invoice as agreed, they went back on their word.
This is a clear case of fraud and scam. We have all the e-mail correspondence to prove it, along with the phone calls assuring the refund and the compensation.
Do not trust either this hotel or Agoda with your bookings— they took our money for a place we couldn’t stay, caused us to spend more, and handled the situation unprofessionally.
