My stay in Maeztu.

Emphasize the kindness of the owners and the people who work with them. Also food and breakfast.
The skewers and the terrace.
The cleanliness of the rooms.
Since we tried it we have repeated three years to visit our family in Maeztu.

Lovely hotel, great atmosphere, surprisingly beautiful region, spectacular food

This is a lovely small hotel which you can quickly tell sits at the heart of its community. In the evening many of the locals pop in here for a game of cards and a drink. It is a slice of real Spain. Katya is a very engaging and obliging host, the common area beautifully decorated and the rooms good value.
It is situated in a surprisingly beautiful part of Spain that very few may think of visiting, but can easily be combined with a trip to Bilbao and/or San Sebastian. It does though seem to be increasingly popular with cyclists due to its 'rolling' countryside.
But, alongside the atmosphere and the area, the real star of the show is the evening food. It is quite spectacular, even when rated against some of the best that Bilbao and San Sebastian can offer. The food may seem expensive but it is worth it.

Friendliest owners in the Basque country

Definitely the friendliest and most accommodating place we’ve encountered on our entire trip. They had a safe place to lock up our bikes, kept the kitchen going even after the chefs had left, and continued to churn out delicious food. The entire town gathers at this place, which says lots.... The rooms are very clean and updated, wifi works great...definitely worth the splurge!

Fantastic, small traditional hotel. Hosts couldn’t have been more accommodating, every need catered for. Comfy bed, clean and tidy rooms. Great coffee bar and restaurant on site.

vriendelijkheid zelve

De ontvangst en de bediening zijn uitermate vriendelijk. Wij hadden een zeer nette kamer met een balkonnetje en een goede badkamer. Ondanks de drukke baan was het er zeer rustig en je kan even doorheen het leuke kleine dorpje wandelen voor of na het avondmaal. Veel bezoekers zijn wandelaars die het natuurpark bezoeken. De kamer was niet overdreven groot maar wat zou je willen voor die prijs. Het ontbijt was één van de beste die we kregen in Spanje met plaatselijke en zeer lekkere ham en kaas. Wij verbleven er na ons bezoek aan Vitoria.
