So lucky to find this place!
We were going to stay in Olot, but when we got there, we didn't like it. Well, that turned out to be serendipitous. We went to Santa Pau, found Can Mencio, and absolutely loved it! If I could I would give the location 10 stars! Santa Pau is a treasure, and our balcony overlooked the medieval square - just what we hoped for when we decided to go to this part of Catalonia. The room and private bath were small, but clean and with a comfortable bed. It was up three flights of stairs, however. There was a nice room to lounge in on the floor below, which opened to a deck with views out the back of the village. In the morning, the coffee and croissants at the little café were excellent. In the evening, the local artisan beer was very good (and only 2 Euros). Conversation was difficult. One guy only spoke Catalan (note: the locals do not consider themselves Spaniards!) Others spoke a little Spanish or English, but they were very friendly and accommodating. Santa Pau was the highlight of our trip!

It was good overall, you have to go see BESALU
The hotel is located in the center of the historic village? a little hard to find to get in by car , free parking; It does not make breakfast or meals .since change of ownership No one to welcome you,except a phone number on the door. Very nice housekeeper does what is necessary. You have to go to the bar located at the bottom of the hotel but independent boss to have snacks or breakfast at very competitive prices, with very friendly person; The bar opens at 8 am and closes at 9 pm after nothing in the village. The only restaurant nearby closes in the evening. Apart from the visit of the village maximum 2 hours more nothing to do; The hotel must have been restored more than 20 years ago and!!!!; Room on the 3rd floor overlooking the correct square with air conditioning. Small shower but not maintained enough.A dining room on the 1st floor with microwave fridge and dishes and a terrace with armchairs on the 2nd with mountain views available to guests. Many shops on holiday from 1 to 17 August.

Overpriced for what you get.
I was disappointed with what I received considering the price. The room is very basic with little space—there's no room for bedside tables. The pillow was incredibly flat, so I had to improvise with a towel to make it a bit higher.
There was no bath mat, and the bathroom was extremely cramped. On a positive note, the shower was good. However, the towels definitely need replacing, as they looked quite worn.
There was no water, tea, or coffee provided in the room. In the dining area, there were coffee capsules, but no coffee machine, kettle, or any means to make tea.
While the building itself is lovely, I’d say it’s more suited to a budget hostel than a place charging £71 per night. This is definitely closer to a 2-star experience, not what you'd expect for that price.

Lack of transparency and care
This Inn was included in the balloon package that my son (9 years) and I hired you. We looked as it was and loved it. When booking the flight we were informed that the establishment of the main square was complete and offered accommodation 'in the same conditions' within 3 minutes. The room mo had nothing to do with the pictures of Plaza Mayor: no fridge, views of a wall, very strong smell of humidity and some bug among the bedding. In the dining room many other bugs. I understand we were in the camp but the complaint is about the lack of sincerity about the equivalence of rooms and the lack of care for the room and the communal dining room. We stayed because it was paid for and the flight arranged but we did not rest and were not comfortable.

Unpretentious place
This place we were told has gone recently through change of ownership. Food is basic but it does the job.Great standards for the price. If you are looking for something simple this is a god place, otherwise look for a sit down full meal in nearby restaurants but expect to pay over 25 Euro per person for a meal
