Brilliant hostel, great location

Lovely hostel in a brilliant location, minutes from city center. The owner is a gent and made us feel at home. Would highly recommend.

Worst welcome of my life

This is my first negative review, as I usually only write positive ones.
I arrived after walking the Camino del Norte feeling tired, but also happy and full of positive energy. When I entered, the gentleman at the reception was having a very tense phone conversation and seemed quite upset.
I smiled and tried to approach the situation with kindness, but unfortunately he directed his frustration at me and spoke to me in a way that felt unnecessarily harsh and completely inappropriate.
I have never experienced anything like this before. I genuinely care about people, always try to treat everyone with respect, and I rarely have conflicts with anyone. That is why his reaction hurt me so much.
To be fair, he apologized the following morning, and I truly appreciated that. However, being treated that way was a very unpleasant experience and left me deeply saddened.

Yes, it's true that your arrival coincided with a heated argument on the phone. I'm sorry our encounter was so unfortunate for you. Despite seeing me like that... (it was somewhat serious) your complete lack of patience (not as you say) didn't help much, which is something those of you who arrive with overwhelming energy sometimes have... looking for attention.
I apologized several times and I reiterate it now. It was unfortunate, but also due to your lack of empathy for the situation. We'd like you to come back as a guest... and get to know me as I am under normal circumstances... when I'm not being messed with. Take care!!

So comfortable and well equipped with lovely staff

I didn't know what to expect from this hostel but I loved it very much from the moment I arrived. It's cosy feel is in the beautiful communal couches where many cups of tea and chats happen right next to the well equipped kitchen and fabulous cooker, here there are many places to plug in devices. The rooms are very comfortable with bed linen provided and a side lamp for individual use. You're given a key to the lockers and the doors of the hoste so you can come and go as you please exploring the city of Santander where there are many interesting things to see. The bathrooms are always clean and comfortable. There is no breakfast available but it is very easy to make it yourself or go to one of the many panaderías in the village nearby where the coffee and pastries are delicious and quite cheap.Overall fantastic stay with wonderful staff and very comfortable and cosy ambiance. Would highly recommend

A warm welcome and a helping hand.

I loved this hostel! The manager Angel, was warm, welcoming and approachable. He gave me a lower bunk, showed me where to get the bus to the beach and how much it would be, and was a cheerful presence around the hostel. I had no smart phone so I appreciated the maps of Santander which were available, allowing me to find my way to the Art Gallery. The whole hostel was clean and bright with maps, flags from all over, and posters from different cultures. I would stay there again! Karen
