Not for people with allergies
First impression of this hotel was that their carpeting was old, stained and long past needing replacement. The room was small for American standards, but average for European. The cleanliness was not up to par, and once in the room I had a significant allergy attack, probably related to dogs having slept there recently, they were unable to change us to a different room. We had planned to spend two nights there, but left after one. Fortunately the Hotel refunded us the second night. The location is excellent, within easy walking distance to lots of restaurants, bars, and a beautiful walkway along the harbor.

Avoid like the plague
I cannot say this is the worst hotel in Spain as I have not stayed in them all but I can say it is the worst I have ever stayed in.

Pombo Hits The Spot!
Just back from a 3 night stay in the city.
Choose the hotel for its central location, and I'm glad we did.
The 'Pombo' is elegantly positioned, overlooking one of the main plazas. It's perfectly situated close to the Botin, Cathedral, Port, Mercado, and you can take a stroll towards the Magdalena Peninsula & Sardinero.
We encountered a very efficient check-in. All staff encountered during our stay were polite & attentive.
We were allocated Room 326.
A good size room, with all the facilities you would need.
Breakfast was a relaxed affair on the 1st floor, with views of the plaza. Good selection of items to kick start your day!
All in all, a wonderful stay and would happily stay here again!

Terrible.
Very bad experience. We booked a standard double room. We were assigned the adapted room without requesting it, and watch how the adapted room is... Stains on upholstery of chairs, blankets, bathroom mirror that has no name (rusty and with insulating tape) and bathroom "adapted" like that. Of course, interior room. I hope that people who really need this room will be charged less, it's totally unfair. Also, if that weren't enough, there was a ramshackle old extra bed that we hadn't requested ("great" if we had gone in a wheelchair). We ask that they withdraw it and they refused. Of course there was a claim sheet. A start-to-finish moot for what is supposed to be a four-star hotel at a premium price. They're jets. It's okay to be teased that you can pay 170 euros a night and receive this.
