No breaks in but cockroaches !!

A beautiful place right next to the beach in matagorda which is beautiful.. The only compliant I would have said is cockroaches in the villa wasn't very nice on a night they would run from under the washer.. I think we were in number five. When I was there it was April 2011 and we had no break ins or had heard of any. The villa and pool was clean. Overall lovey holiday but more because of the place rather than the villa

Truly holiday from HELL

We booked a weeks holiday with Thomas Cook to Villa Jameos, Matagorda - on arrival we had no details of where exactly our villa was situated, spent 2 half hrs nd many phone calls trying to find it - we wish we hadnt bothered. On arrival, the villa was extremely dirty, the floor was sticky and there were dirty black footprints up the broken staircase, the pool was dirty, with sand, grit and hair clearly visible at the bottom, it had no air con but we had been advised last min by TC. the satellite TV did not work, and the waste in our bathroom sink was not connected so when we turned on tap water ran thru to floor. My husband repaired that and because it was so long since we had a holiday we gritted our teeth and carried on. on the 5th day of the holiday we went on a trip to Ranch Texas and on return found that the safe in our wardrobe had been ripped out and stolen, they had stolen our daughters suitcase to put it in and a back pack we presume for all other goods that they stole, our passport's, driving license, 4 phones which we had decide not to take as we were more likely to have them stolen whilst up and dancing on our trip, our camera whose mem card was full so we left it in behind,400 euros an I pod touch and various jewelry and even presents we had bought as gift's. TC were useless we never saw our rep Ellen once, not once, they moved us into a hotel that night to a room with 2 single beds for the girls and a sofa for my husband and I, all done by a payphone in the hotel lobby, TC promised us rep and a translator wld be with us by 9 am, nothing at 10 we spoke to a Thompson rep who was brilliant, she made many calls for us and told us how to get an interpreter. We Spent next day in police station and on pay phone back at hotel as hotel would not let us use their phone, no rep in person just by phone, spent next night on sofa - Met other people who told us about this web site and that these villas had been repeatedly burgled before, even the safe stolen before, yet never once did Thomas Cook tell us anything and we know our rep (who never once helped) knew about the burglaries because she is mentioned in other reviews Never Never stay in these villas and never never book with Thomas Cook again...

holiday hell

mike,r Me and my family 8 of us in total booked villas jameos through thomas cook for two weeks from 15th august and although we had read the review on trip advisor [nightmare villas] we decided to crack on with it as we had been reasured by thomas cook all was going to be ok. Wish we had not bothered it was a total nightmare.we were allocated villa 4 on arrival, that didnt bode well the first thing i checked when we got to the villa was the safe it was secured to some mdf in the wardrobe so i wasnt prepared to leave anything in that. There was no air con as stated in broucher. The railings across the front of the pool were rusty and falling to bits a 15ft drop the other side not to mention the faulty patio doors. Money stolen from my daughters purse aprox 250 euros.wasted 6 days waiting in for workmen and fans to be delivered which were a waste of time We were moved just up the road to costa sal apartments and villas and could not fault this complex although our family had to be split up in 2 seperate villas. This was a small price to pay to get out of hell villas. We never recovered from our nightmare start. Thomas cook have a lot to answer. Dont go to these villas theres massive allround problems.

Theft from locked safe at Villas Jameos

Just returned from two weeks at the Villas Jameos in Matagorda, Villa #4. On arrival we were quite pleased with the villa. A few bits here and there were a little tired looking and in need of replacement, but nothing major or that caused an inconvenience. We had received a call from Thomas Cook before we left that despite being advertised as having air conditioning in the brochure there was in fact no air conditioning in the villas so we were prepared for that.
We were not prepared however for having money stolen from our locked safe during our first full day in the villa. We had arrived late on the Thursday night and on the Friday had put money, Sterling and Euros, into the safe which was located in the wardrobe in the upstairs bedroom. The key was kept by my mother. After coming back from an early morning walk on the Saturday my sister went to the safe to get our "shopping kitty" and discovered that all of the money we had put in the safe was gone. The passports were still there and also a small jewellery case which had been untouched, but the cash was gone. This included the kitty for five people's shopping, all of my mother's Euros, money belonging to my husband and myself and all of the Sterling, which was my father's emergency money. My sister and I then spent a great deal of Saturday in the police station in Puerto del Carmen making a report. This of course incurred taxi fares and the cost of an interpretor. I have to say that our rep, Ellen Snowdon, was very helpful and we were moved later that day to Villa #6.
Out of the 6 villas with an upstairs only ours and one other were occupied. I did go along to speak to the young couple to let them know what had happened and I apologise to them if what happened to us left them feeling uneasy, but we would have felt awful if something had happened to them and we hadn't said anything. After discussing what happened it would appear that whilst we were all downstairs at the pool or on the terrace someone let themselves in through the upstairs french doors and emptied the safe. We cannot understand however how they were able to open a locked safe. There is no security at the villas other than the patio doors - most of which do not close properly and would appear to be locked but have gaps down the side that fingers can be inserted into.
The resort itself was lovely and we managed to make the best of the rest of our holiday, but it really was a bad start to a holiday we had saved two years for.

Nightmare Villas

Booked a 2 week family holiday to the James Villas No 4 during May/June 2012, holiday was booked as a package with a national travel agency out of there brochure which stated, air conditioning and satellite tv, none where installed on the villa, there security is appalling, no alarms, patio doors that do not lock at all, and to make it worse the only internal security in these villas is a safe fitted inside the wardrobe in the main bedroom, not secured to a solid wall just the internal panel of the wardrobe made from chipboard, on the 9th night of our 2 week stay we were broken/walked in to by theifs who just ripped the safe from the wardrobe wall whilst we were out which contained our valuables, passports, driving licenses, wife's purse etc etc, spent the last 5 days of the holiday in contact with British consulate trying to secure energy replacement passports so we could get home at a cost of €506 euros which are only valid for your one trip home. This complex of 6 villas needs to be avoided by all
