In 1982, my husband Jose Cruz and I achieved our dream: to create a grill restaurant where we can offer traditional Basque cuisine with the best local produce, cooked with the same wisdom and love of our mothers and grandmothers. Later we completed our dream adding a pension, which offers rest to our visitors. Just 150 metres from the beach, Asador Pensión Lagunak is in the centre of Zarautz, 20 minutes drive from San Sebastián. The guest house offers free Wi-Fi. The bright rooms feature a balcony and have wooden floors. There is heating and air conditioning. Rooms come with a desk and flat-screen TV, as well as a private bathroom with a shower. The restaurant serves typical local cuisine, such as grilled meats and fish. Breakfast is available in a café across the road. Tourist information is available and there are thalassotherapy centres nearby. Bilbao is 60 km away. Please inform Pensión Lagunak in advance of your expected arrival time. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly with the contact details provided in your confirmation. Guests are required to show a photo identification and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply. Please note that the check-in and key-collection take place at: San Francisco 10, 20800 Zarautz. Please let Asador Pensión Lagunak know your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking or contact the property. Please note that free public parking is not available from 15th June to 15th September. Run away from this hotel!

Hotel to escape absolutely, full of bedbugs, I was bitten 20 times on the arms, horrible , it scratched me for 8 days, the welcome was unpleasant by the Asian restaurant, the room overlooked the train tracks, trains until midnight whereas the receptionist had said until 10pm and it started again at 5am ..A scandal!!

Traumatising

It was absolutely disgusting. First I checked if the sheets were changed. See the photo below :) also I had beautiful gift in a toiled when I arrived. I literally felt like staying in some mental hospital. Keys were not working so needed to wait for a girl who doesn’t speak English, as there is no reception, to bring me new key. Traumatising experience.

Dirty, noisy & freezing cold

We were delayed going to Zarautz but the pension arranged for a place to collect the keys. When we arrive at the hotel the room was freezing (temperatures were -1ºC on the first night we were) there and the heating didn't work. The toilet/bathroom was dirty and the bedsheets looked liked they hadn't been changed since the last occupant as there were several long black hairs and dirt in the bed. Also, & this is my fault as I didn't initially check exactly where the pension is on a map but it is right net to a railway line and trains go past about every 10 minutes but there is no metion of this on the hotel's site or any of the online booking sites. The next day when the restaurant opened at 10 I went to recetion to tell the woman there that the heating didn't work & she gave me instructions on how to make it work. I followed her instructions but it still didn't work so I went reception again & was told by a different person that it only worked with cold air for in the summer but they would put a portable radiator in the room. By now we wanted to book into another hotel but everwhere was full in town as this was a holiday weekend. We stayed one more night there but the room wasn't cleaned properly by the staff so we cancelled the other 2 nights we had booked and went to another town to find accomodation. Don't stay here - this is bad, backpacker style accomodation at hotel prices

A noisy uncomfortable room and we won't be back!

We told management we would get there at 6pm but we were 5 minutes late due to trying to find a car park and they didn't wait for us. We had to call booking.com to find the manager to let us in as they had left the premises. The train ran outside our bedroom window about 10 metres away so it was very noisy.

Rude and unhelpful

We booked to stay here through Booking.com
Despite conformation e mails including one agreeing to our late arrival when we arrived they had either overbooked or had the wrong day!!
I produced my confirmation but they were simply NOT interested. The lady we spoke to was more concerned with running her restaurant than helping three people who didn't speak Spanish late at night find some other accommodation!!
It was their fault but they were not interested.....utterly atrocious!
DO NOT STAY HERE....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
