Wonderful Stay with Great Views!

I stayed at Nilambara Lake View from February 11th to 12th and had a fantastic experience. The staff were incredibly friendly, the facilities were excellent, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The lake views were stunning, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommend for a short getaway!

Extremely Disappointing Experience

Extremely Disappointing Experience
We had one of the worst experiences with this place. We paid an advance of LKR 25,000 to make a booking, but unfortunately had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. We informed the owner, Mr. Anura, well in advance, and he assured us a 100% refund after 20 days.
However, after waiting patiently and following up, he suddenly refused to refund the amount. After multiple calls and lengthy discussions, he finally agreed to refund LKR 15,000, but even then, only LKR 10,000 was Refunded.
This kind of behavior is not just unprofessional, it's unethical. Broken promises, constant delays, and lack of accountability made this a truly frustrating experience.
Think twice before trusting this place with your money. Avoid such scammers at all costs.

Disappointing Experience – Unprofessional Handling by Manager Anura
We had planned a family gathering and made a reservation at Nilambara Lake View, Dambulla, paying an advance to confirm the booking. Unfortunately, due to an unavoidable situation, we had to cancel our plans. I immediately informed Mr. Anura, the manager I had been in contact with.
Before the booking, Anura was polite and responsive. However, after the payment was made, his attitude completely changed. He stopped communicating the way he did before, ignored several of my messages, and was unwilling to even speak with us properly. After repeated follow-ups and arguments, he finally agreed to refund a small part of the advance — but it was a very minimal amount, and even that was delayed.
There was no cancellation policy or refund condition shared with us at the time of booking, and no clear terms were communicated. This lack of transparency and the way Anura handled the situation left us feeling extremely disappointed and mistreated.
Our experience with Nilambara Lake View was frustrating and unprofessional. I would strongly advise future guests to make sure all terms are clearly documented and to be cautious when dealing with this property.

Disappointing Stay at Nilambara Lake View – Poor Hygiene & Service

We had a disappointing experience at Nilambara Lake View in Dambulla as a group of 13. We had booked five rooms, but the conditions were far from what we expected.
Hygiene Issues: The lake-view rooms were terrible, with an overwhelming number of insects, frogs, and even lizards inside the room. Another room had a centipede, making it very uncomfortable for the guests.
Poor Hospitality: The resort is run by just four people, who seemed overwhelmed and lacked any real sense of hospitality. The service was unprofessional, and the staff didn’t seem interested in making the stay pleasant.
Bad food: breakfast and dinner was below average, the breakfast was even stale - with very limited options and poor quality. Definitely not up to expectations.
Location & Accessibility: The resort is far from the main road, and the approach road is rough and goes through the jungle, making it inconvenient, especially at night.
Overall, this was not a good experience, and we wouldn’t recommend it, especially for families or large groups looking for a comfortable stay in Dambulla. There are much better options in the area.

Terrible place

Terrible hotel. I was disappointed in the hotel. The pool was dirty. The dining area was crawling with insects. Blankets were not provided. Toilets were not clean. Rooms had many varieties of insects on the bed and walls. The lock was broken in one room and they did not care. Do not suggest going here.
