A Wildlife Haven with Breathtaking Sunrise Views
Tucked away in the hills above Kandy is this peaceful nine-villa retreat. Our villa had incredible sunrise views over the mountains and was immersed in nature, with wildlife like monkeys, deer, and colorful birds right outside. The restaurant serves delicious Western and Sri Lankan dishes, with the traditional curry being a must-try. They were also incredibly accommodating to any special requests.
The villa itself was a peaceful sanctuary with a private pool, an outdoor jacuzzi, and a patio that was sunny in the morning and shaded and cool in the evening. There's also a stunning shared pool with panoramic views.
A huge thank you to the amazing staff, especially managers Dulan and Geetha, butler Lakshman, and driver Dilshan, whose exceptional service made our stay so special. From the Temple of the Tooth to an elephant safari, the excursions were fantastic. This place is worth the price paid and we can't wait to go back.

Best hotel in the entire world.
If I were told I had a week left to live - I’d want to spend it here! This place is amazing. So I booked a pair of rooms (the sky tented villa and the sky habitat villa). We did this deliberately as they form one building with the sky tented villa being on top of the habitat and we wanted to be close to our teenage kids. The rooms were perfection. They are exactly as good as the website photos. The tented villa is more expensive- but I honestly think it is worth the money. It gets much better views as the balcony is completely open. Even just using the bathroom is an amazing experience.
The staff were all wonderful. Anything you ask for they try to accommodate. A late breakfast? No problem. Want to move to have dinner closer to the pool? No problem. Plus we had the best massages ever here. There is not a single thing I would change. This place is perfection. The best experience of my entire life. A huge thank you to the staff. We wish we didn’t have to leave today and we really hope that one day we will be able to return.

Scary and worst resort
It is a worst hotel…which is like very scary…when you check inn then also the reception staff makes you afraid about the stay…that their are many insects and animals and for that they are not responsible for any kind of loss…worst rooms….worst bathrooms….its like a haunted hotel….i just checked in and as i entered the room i came out quickly…i booked it for 2 nights but i did not even stay for an hour their at we were that much scared of….i would never suggest anyone this property….

A panoramic paradise
The resort was a paradise. The room was beautiful and spacious. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The food was outstanding. They provided good options for western or local dining. The panoramic views of the Knucklehead mountain range were beautiful. It is a romantic and peaceful resort.

A quiet secluded sanctuary.
The Aarunya Nature Resort & Spa is set high in the hillside overlooking the Knuckles Mountain Range a UNESCO world heritage site.
The access road is twisty and narrow but negotiated with care you arrive at this hidden treasure. It’s certainly a place to chill out and switch off. The infinity pool has a wonderful view overlooking the mountains although our private villa pool was screened by pretty bushes.
Our room was spacious and nicely decorated with a small seating area. The spiced nuts in the room were fantastic as was the food. I am gluten free and gluten free bread and pancakes were prepared specially. The Sri Lankan curry feast for 2 people which needs a few hours notice was superb - beautifully presented with wonderful flavours- we would highly recommend.
The warm welcome from staff included a shoulder & neck massage and a traditional wax melting ritual.
The breakfast and dinner area overlooked the pool which was very scenic. The hotel is small so don’t expect a lot of activity, food service was also offered in room which made it very quiet at times.
Please note that the hotel is also some distance from Kandy - about a 40 minute drive and as it is high in the hillside it could be cool at night.
We would highly recommend this pretty resort if you are looking for a quiet secluded sanctuary to chill for a few days.
