A beautiful serene getaway

I loved my stay at Rukgala in a beautiful serene setting. The place was peaceful and perfect for a retreat. All the experiences offered were amazing and the kayaking in the lake was also a great.
As a solo traveller it felt like home away from home with caring and dedicated staff members. All meals were excellent and nourishing. The yoga twice a day was great and I felt stronger and calmer after every session. The property manager went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having a good time and that all was in place. I would absolutely recommend to anyone who is looking for a Serene getaway.

Peaceful place

The location is peaceful, green, and surrounded by nature, making it an ideal place to unwind and escape the chaos of town life. Although it is a bit farther from Kandy than I would have preferred, the tranquil setting more than makes up for it.
The rooms are outstanding, and the food is excellent. It’s a wonderful place to relax and recharge.
A special mention goes to Miriam, the yoga teacher, who is warm, welcoming, and radiates positive energy. She is highly knowledgeable and well-prepared, making the yoga sessions both enjoyable and rewarding.
The only reason I am giving 8/10 instead of a higher rating is that I expected the manager to be more sociable and welcoming. He did not introduce himself upon my arrival, which I found a little unusual and somewhat disappointing. Aside from that, my experience was very positive

An Elegant Retreat

Tastefully designed hotel with an inviting restaurant and lounge area, spacious well furnished rooms and gorgeous views from the main house balcony. Very impressive.
Good food, though with the exception of egg variations at breakfast, no alternatives offered, so I got what I was given with no knowledge of what was being served beforehand. While pricey, not as overpriced as their sister hotel, Ashburnham Estate, where I had stayed immediately prior. Lunch ($12), dinner ($18), with no menu provided.
Yoga shala exquisite and the on-site yoga teacher, Miriam, a lovely and creative teacher (twice daily classes $15/hr). Massage therapist also good but extortionate for Sri Lanka ($35/hr).
Small 8 metre pool, oddly deep and weirdly designed with sloping sides and stepped entrances making it difficult to swim micro lengths. Could use some maintenance.
The lake is a rather barren affair with zero shade and wandering ox

Beautiful, relaxing stay

Strongly recommend this place. It is beautiful and the staff are so friendly. 2 hikes were offered - Temple Hike ( more of a scramble/climb) and Coconut Ridge which was truly stunning. Many thanks to our guide, Bosca, who helped me get to the top of the Temple hike and enjoy the views.
Food was first class and the deck area beautiful. Very relaxing.
Thank you to all the staff there, especially Bosca and Malith.

Splendid atmosphere & luxury for how we paid on our research tour of Rupert's Morphic Resonance.
Uncanny sunrises, rainbows, & sunsets which we heard & smelt while tasting the jazzy music of crickets while fireflies got into sync.
Sized up with fresh linen, nutrition, torturous yoga, impossible meditation backed by a mediating Wellness spa
