The owner of the hotel is wonderful!
I also want to express my great gratitude to the guide for the incredible individual tour to Ella! ❤️
It was one of the highlights of my tour of Sri Lanka. We visited many stunningly beautiful places: took the famous train with incredible views, saw the legendary 9-arch bridge, Ravana Falls, climbed Adam's Little Peak, visited tea plantations and even met monkeys. Each stop left a lot of impressions and beautiful photos.
Special thanks to the guide for his attentiveness, comfortable travel arrangements and friendly atmosphere. It was very interesting, calm and nice to travel. It felt like a man really loved his business and cared about his guests.
The tour exceeded all our expectations! I will definitely recommend this guide to all my friends and acquaintances who are planning a holiday in Sri Lanka. Thanks for the unforgettable emotions!

Small soul hotel on the beach of Mirissa
And hooray! We boarded at Colombo City Airport around 10:00 a.m. local time. The long-awaited ladder has carefully docked with our aircraft. Deep breath of the aroma of a warm sea mixed with the smells of hot ground and tropical plants. Next is customs, luggage, currency exchange, search representatives anex tour, and shuttle service 3.5 hours long to Mirissa Beach .
The bus driver safely disposed of his last three passengers before reaching the hotel. Next, three Siberian girls were loaded into a tuk-tuk with their luggage and taken to a hotel in five minutes.
Sky Garden** is a mini family-style hotel, hidden among palm trees and other structures two turns from the main road. A four-story structure, unnoticed opened its doors to the guests. So, I'm in a room on the third floor from the very edge to the road. Well, what about the hotel itself. It's two stars. So I'll be perfectly honest, as I always am in my reviews.
The first thing my long and tediously expensive psyche encountered were room keys. Locks leave a lot to be desired. Inside the room make a chipper and there will be happiness for all guests.
Attempts to find the coveted Wi-Fi "sticks" were unsuccessful. After all the efforts of the hotel staff, I was able to use any internet only outside the room, on the veranda, and sometimes even on the stairs. Hot water on the first day I never got it. Then they explained to me that you have to switch the shower to hot and in three or five minutes it will be warm and then hot. Water pressure is very low, those with thick and long hair will be difficult. There's also a lack of thought for the shower and the water drain, she runs through the shower. Anyone who doesn't plan to wash their head every time, bring shower caps, because they're not here, and the shower head is one - the top, which is very uncomfortable, to be honest. No hairdryer in the room, but can be arranged upon request. The accessories include small soap, bottled gel and shampoo and a roll of toilet paper.
There's no drinking water in the rooms - the nearest shop is to help you.
In the morning, barking and howling dogs sometimes get in the way. Or maybe a gang of monkeys (don't leave anything on the veranda or balcony, especially food, and close the doors and windows to the room if you leave). Construction is now actively under way near the hotel, all day the noise of drills and hammers, but it may be finished by January. In the evening, music from the nearby Capybara Cafe. But you can't hear the road . Extremely uncomfortable chairs on the veranda. The rooms lack lighting, especially on the lower floors. Sometimes there are power outages, but that's a problem for everyone who depends on the generator.
Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. (2nd floor dining room). You will be offered eggs in three states: boiled, fried or omelet of choice, toast, plate of delicious fruit, tea or coffee with milk, jam and butter. Can be treated to coconut tortillas or pancakes, try definitely. Modest, but delicious and satisfying.
Now for the good. All rooms with a shadowy side, no sun. There's palm trees and greenery. Rooms are spacious and clean enough. Bed linens are fresh. Big, bright bathroom. Quiet air conditioning. There is a refrigerator, kettle, safe, glasses, spoons, mugs, fan ceiling and floor. There's no TV, and you don't need one. A large double bed with baldachin and a comfortable mattress, but very rigid pillows. Some rooms have a single bed. One big towel per guest. The sympathetic and kind hotel staff, they try very hard to keep guests well and comfortable. Room service is available upon request. Beach towels are also given out when needed, but they are very small. The courtyard has a place to wash your feet after the beach. From the beach to the hotel for 5 minutes, walk down the street to the right.
Mirissa Beach is located in a small bay, which makes only small waves reach the shore, in which children and adults frolic. The coast is beautiful, with pure orange and white fine sand and I think until recently it was one of the best until there were tourists here in such numbers. On the right is a small Coral beach, where surfers catch a wave from early morning to late evening. To the left of Mirissa (if facing the sea) will be Black beach, And next to Turtle beach - there is a chance to see large Lankan turtles (you can snorkel). The entire coastline is lined with cafes, restaurants, hotels and surfing centers. To get your hands on the coveted mattress bed and secure seal day, you just need to buy something to choose from the menu of the establishment.
Be sure to taste local cuisine - roti, cotta and curry. The most delicious will be in Cafe No. 01Dewmini Roti shop. Damn it for once, you won't regret it. The cost of the dish averages Rs. 1,500. The portions are very large. Service is quick. The cafe is very popular.
It's better to go to the beach cafe in the evening for fish. Choose the fish you want by size and in half an hour it will be hot on your plate. You'll find some small fruit shops around here. There are bananas, pineapples, watermelons, gorgeous papaya, sour maracuilla and mangoes. Royal yellow coconuts sell almost everywhere from Rs. 200 to Rs. 400. Refrigerated and larger will be more expensive. Very sweet and healthy.
From what you can see nearby, it's within walking distance. Parrot Rock, but I call it Raven Island . Palm rock behind the beach with the turtles (soon the truth of the palm trees will not remain there alas ). Secret beach is a small beach between the cliffs to the right of Coral beach. Small Buddhist temples, keep in mind that to enter the temple grounds you must be sure to undress. Local submarine with colorful local boats, boats and yachts. That's about it. From the animal you can find crabs, monkeys, turtles, varanas, chipmunks (squirrels), bat dogs, lizards, snakes and mosquitoes, these are just animals in the evening. And, yes, there are a lot of dogs everywhere, it's kind of nice at first, but then when you watch them torment each other, literally, in a turf fight, it gets kind of weird. But I haven't seen aggression against people, they can only playfully molest. There are sand fleas on the beach, so without a towel on the wet sand it is best not to lie down.
I won't say anything about the tours, except for one - jeep safaris in Yala National Park. I took a tour from the tour operator Anex for $110. If you decide to go book somewhere else, at least it'll be cheaper. I was expecting a lot more, having been on safari in other countries. Here, too, we could see from afar a couple of elephants, muddy buffaloes, spotted deer grazing, a bunch of peacocks, a lazy crocodile, two black bears running away from cars, an eagle-dining lizard, a fast mongoose, a cowardly hare, careless boars, a varan, aggressive monkeys, important pelicans, a toucan in a second's flight and one cheerful green parrot. That's our whole safari. All the animals were far enough away or in the water. It's almost impossible to get a regular phone camera. There are a lot of Jeeps. Dusty. Make sure you bring water and wet wipes. The drive from Mirissa to the park is about 2.5 hours, which means you'll spend about five hours on the road.
And in general enjoy your vacation, chic nature, caressing the sea, interaction with good Lankans, and remember - the world is beautiful ☀️!
