Hotel Needs slight tweeking /updating.
We were shown to our room on the ground floor. The entrance is dark, on entering the room I was disappointed because the condition of the room was nothing like the photos online. The paint work needs to be down again, windows have gaps which the ghettos entered & played around the walls & ceilings!
The shower is very difficult to control the temperature.
The towels need to replaced & there should be complimentary shower wash & cream.
The windows on the bathroom need a blind because the light comes through the frosted glass panelled bathroom door.
The bedding & pillows also need replacing. They were clean - just old.
We could not open the curtains because the room is at the rear of the building.
There is NO HAIRDRYER - hotels generally do supply such.
Food: Delicious curry & rice was served on request an hour after arrival. There was a selection of Dahl, ladies fingers, jack fruit, chicken curry & rice. The portions are adequate.
The menu is limited so we opted not to have dinner that night. It would be good to have choices.
The cheese used for sandwiches was flavourless soft cheese * we found mould on bread too.
Beer - over priced @500 rupee each, when questioned the owner replied saying they were hotel prices!!!!. We went to town & bought the same for less than half that cost.
The hotel owner tended to be around all the time - that feeling of bring watched is uncomfortable & unnecessary.
The hotel offered a Safari which cost 3,500 rupees - the driver was fabulous. He knew all the tricks to get us close to the elephants without intruding.
Generally speaking I have to say that apart from the aforementioned which can be easily addressed by the owner promptly I'd stay again. I would be better prepared if I read a review like this one. It's not a cheap hotel so high expectations are reasonable to have in my opinion.
The staff including the owner were pleasant , courteous & helpful.

Good find
We looked at the rooms for future trips and they looked very clean and spacious.
I particularly liked the buffalo curd which I was told was made locally. It is certainly one of the best I had in Sri Lanka. Fully recommended.
