My experience at the Ramilton Old Town Hostel
This was a really nice hostel. We contacted the reception through email before our arrival because our train was running late and we were gonna miss the check in time. They were quick in their response and gave us clear instructions on how to enter the building, how to collect our room key and how to settle payment the following day. The moment we walked in we thought it was lovely. The entrance was really nice and the hostel seemed quiet! We got to our room and it was really nice. The room and beds were clean and comfortable. Each bed had a light and plug socket. The toilets were down the hall which is the only issue I had! The next day we spoke with the receptionist who was so chatty and lovely and told us a lot about the hostel. We learned that it was getting refurbished and that it used to be a prison a long time ago and you can tell with the structure of the building! The hostel had a kitchen and lounge area with a tv also. Overall, I would recommend this hostel. I think once the refurb is done it will be even better than it is and I definitely would come back!

Became homeless
These were the worst I've ever had. When we get there, the place is closed and this was a shock as we had not received any message about this. Extra bad when you cannot reach the number they have given as a contact person for questions. Disaster bad never book this place.

I won't go back
I don't usually write negative reviews of places where I stayed because I've never found the need fortunately, until today.
It seems appropriate to write this review to help those who wanted to stay in this place, so that he is aware of everything and is prepared.
I would not recommend this place nor would I want to return in the near future. The only good thing was the location in the historic center of Stockholm but everything else was below sufficiency.
The entire structure is underground, without windows, without natural light, with a strong smell typical of indoors. The rooms are very small with little privacy if not zero and little room to move.
I would not recommend this place for claustrophobic people in any way whatsoever.
The spaces in general are very, very dirty starting from the rooms and beds.
The bathrooms are divided between males and females but they are really dirty. Fouling, mold and hair everywhere are just some of the main decorations of the bathroom.
Bed linen is not included in the price so I recommend bringing your own otherwise you will have to pay to rent theirs.

ABSOLUTELY TO ESCAPE
I strongly advise against this hostel. As soon as I arrived, I noticed a glaring lack of hygiene: hair in showers, sinks, and on the bathroom floor. The sheets were in unacceptable condition, with suspicious stains, and even the rolls of toilet paper were dirty.
There is a very unpleasant smell in the corridors and rooms, probably related to the fact that some homeless people are accommodated there without supervision. The kitchen is a nightmare: cockroaches, no soap, no forks available, and nothing is clean.
The rooms have no windows, which makes the air unbreathable, and some lockers do not even close. I also noticed mold in several nooks and crannies. Frankly, I did not feel safe or comfortable during my stay.
It’s an experience I don’t wish on anyone. Run away.

Huge lie! Vomiting hygiene and hostile atmosphere
The only advantage of this hostel is its central location in the old Gamla Stan area
Beside that, do not trust the photos and description of the establishment.
It's all dilapidated!
Extremely dirty kitchen and fridges, with cockroaches, hobs and broken furniture. No respect from the residents, no respect from the staff who don't do anything to change that.
On the bedroom side, the mattresses are stained and sunk.
Bathroom with exposed electric cables above the showers.
The hostel welcomes year-round residents who develop discomfort. We were insulted in the common areas by people who staggered, just because we are French. Other residents and staff laugh at it because they are used to it.
We shared these things at the reception at the check out. The only solution is to write a comment that management can respond to later.
